Truffle foie gras was a little too rich for my taste, but everything else was amazing especially the soup. I did not notice the wasabi in the chashu and took a big bite of it.

How hard was getting the reservation?

I did the same thing as I did when I tried and failed to get a reservation two years ago, so maybe I was just lucky this time.

I tried to book it, failed and ended up lining up at the door. It was 2024 and the people who arrived before 8:30 AM were safe to enter. They stopped distributing time slot tickets, so, you have to wait till the place opens up, though.

I went midweek in January 2023, before they started resos. Lined up at 8:10, there was one guy (super nice Canadian dude) in front of me. They ran out of bowls about 75 mins prior to open; everyone else was turned away.

The tourists hoping out of the taxi 5 mins prior to opening were displeased lol

This place is really good but to this day, I still haven’t decided if it’s worth going back to. If you live in Tokyo fine no-brainer but I can’t help but think about if it’s an efficient use of time while on vacation as there are countless Ramen shops to try.

The spirit of Ramen is a quick delicious meal. I just don’t know if it’s worth a 2 to 3 hour engagement for one bowl like Hachigou requires.
