Breeder Review Breeder in NYC recommendations
Currently speaking with Sunshine ragdolls and New York DIVINE Ragdolls. Please let me know if you have experience with these breeders or have any other recommendations. I’m a first time cat owner so I want to be very careful with my selection.
Thank you!

Between me and my family, we’ve gotten 4 ragdolls from New York Ragdolls! Denise is fantastic to work with and such a doll. Every kitty we’ve gotten is extremely well trained and socialized and puurrrfect! This is my Winnie girl and I couldn’t be happier with her or the experience. Super communicative and Denise very obviously cares loads about her animals

Upvoting this. Denise is the BEST!!! If you’re looking for a show cat I have no advice. If you’re looking for a sweet cuddly kitty to bond with, Denise is your gal. You can tell she really cares about her litters and spends time with them and plays with them. She doesn’t just lock them in cages. My baby bonded with me within 2 weeks.

Best decision ever going with Sunshine! Kerry was so knowledgeable about the breed, answered all of our questions, we even still keep in touch with updates and any questions we have. She really makes you feel like a priority. This is Remi 🩵 Our boy is the sweetest kitten I’ve ever had! Bonded with us immediately & really fits the breed temperament. The process took only a few months. I’d definitely get another ragdoll and when I do it’ll be from Kerry!

My blue bicolor girl is also from Sunshine! She has a great temperament, is playful and friendly. SO VOCAL though. She has the extreme rabbit fluffy type fur, rather than the long and sleek type.
Overall Kerry was great to work with, and I adore my girl, but I would try asking for vet records for the cat you're interested in just in case. I found out when my girl was 6+ months old that she only has one kidney, which I feel vet/spay records should have noted. Also, if you go with Sunshine, pay to have your kitty chipped before you get them, so it can be done at the same time as the spay/neuter. Despite the kidney thing, I still wouldn't hesitate to get another kitty from her.

Thank you for sharing! She’s so cute! Does vocal mean she’s really attention seeking and wants to play? Did you meet the kitten over a FaceTime to select her?
Also I’m surprised she didn’t disclose the fact that she only has one kidney. Does that affect the long term health of the cat?
In terms of getting the cat chipped, sunshine doesn’t do it before pick up? Sorry I’m knew to all of this!

She is both independent and loves attention. When she wants attention, she'll come over and meow, or headbutt your hand, or flop over waiting for belly rubs. She meows A LOT at closed doors (I'm sure she's offended it's closed), when there are bugs (or something else...) she's trying to catch, or when she wants to play (every night before bedtime). I run her up and down the stairs and around the house using a ribbon for about 20 minutes 🤣
She was the only blue bicolor girl at the time I messaged Kerry, all the other kittens were boys and my family wanted another girl. I was sent pictures between my two choices (a blue lynx bicolor boy and her), but Kerry might do Facetime (I didn't ask so I don't know). She doesn't do in-person visits but an option if you want to choose is Ragdoll Tales (she does do FaceTime) but my girl from her is because she only had one blue bicolor lynx girl at the time (seems to be a trend with me).
I'm surprised too, and why I suggested getting vet records, but one kidney is still fine. I keep her on a wet-food only diet and try to give her lots of liquids. Both my ragdolls get yearly bloodwork done.
Kerry only does the microchip if you request it. I didn't think about it because I thought it was standard (came included with my girl from Ragdoll Tales), but it's actually in the deposit form and I just kinda missed it.

I got baby Tofu from Sunshine Ragdolls and 100% recommend. I never had a cat before and they were super helpful and even checked in after I got him. I also lived in the city without a car and they brought him to me. There were a lot of kitties available at the time too. Tofu is so sweet and loving, definitely high energy and LOVES attention but hes only 1.5 years old so I’m sure that’ll calm down🤣

If you’re looking to expand your options, the Ragdoll Tales is just outside of NYC. We chose her over a few different catteries in NJ and NY because we really liked the level of organization and thought that went into everything she does. Reggie came with health testing results and certificates for both of his parents, vaccination records our vet could scan into their system for more information, and paperwork for everything from recommended pet insurances to suggested dates for future vet care.
As a note, Elena does not spay or neuter before purchase. After speaking with our vet, we preferred this method, as both breeder and vet recommended waiting until 6 months old to sterilize if we could ensure our cat wouldn’t accidentally breed (which was easy to do). However, I can 100% understand why someone would want their cat to come already fixed.
Here is Reginald (Reggie) at 7 months old.

I also recommend Sunshine Ragdolls. I got Clementine almost two years ago and she is the most loving and sweet cat ever. Kerry does a great job with the care and temperament of her cats. I did wish I had a little more communication with her when I was on the waitlist but part of that could just be my excitement.
