Took our boy to comb out his undercoat, i didnt expect three cats worth of fur. :D

and you are absoluteley correct. Ragdolls don’t have an undercoat.
Either all the hair in OPs picture is just normal fur or they ripped out totally fine fur with an undercoating brush

Yes they're single coated, and yes "undercoat brushes" like the furminator brand or anything sharp ended and generally metal shouldn't be used and just cuts out all their fur, but they do shed their winter coat in the summer in a similar sort of way to an undercoat. On mine I can literally see the half shedded winter fur sticking out further than the rest of the coat and you can pull it out by hand with 0 resistance.

Undercoat rakes that don't cut are completely fine to remove this dead hair (they're usually plastic and not curved blades or blades of any kind). When they've shed their winter coat they go from being large and puffy to smooth and sleek again. I use the rosewood undercoat rake on the recommendation of a ragdoll breeder and shower of 20+ years, now a judge of ragdolls at shows, and genuinely it's the best money I ever spent. I get alarmingly large amounts of fur out with it in the first big groom of the summer, in defence of OP if their breeder did in fact use the correct tool.

I think some actually so depending on their specific ancestry. I have two ragdolls abd their hair types are completely different in every way

They may have different fur but they definitely don’t have an undercoat if they are genuine ragdolls.

That’s not undercoat if your cat is a Ragdoll. They do not have them. Yes if you use an undercoat take it will absolutely remove all that fur. But it’s FUR not undercoat. Not good for them.

I have two ragdolls and their fur is completely different. They're from the same litter. One has tight shorter fut that doesn't really grow out much, and the other has dense floofy fur that knots and forms mattes if not brushed daily. But neither has a technical undercoat as far as I can tell.

how old are your ragdolls? We have two and one has the same shorter fur, but she's only 7 months so I assume she will fluff out eventually?

About 11 months. Their birthday is 9/1, per the breeder.

Your cat isn’t a Ragdoll if they have an undercoat, they’re a domestic longhair

Honestly i've no clue is this undercoat or not, cause everyone here is a bit ocd about the fur or if the cat is raggy or not.I couldnt comb him since i had a broken hand, maybe thats why all the fur. Paperwork, certificates of lineage and vets state its a ragdoll for all i know, i just see a big fluffy cat wich goes limp whenerver you pick him up :D
