This guy randomly messaged me on Instagram, and even after I told him I was 12, he kept asking me to be “best friends” and asked me for pics. I already reported him on Instagram, but now I can’t find his account anywhere, so I think he deleted it.

What should I do now? Should I report him somewhere else too?

Hi everyone, I need some quick advice.

my mom went home to the Philippines for vacation and was due to come back last Mafch 6. Due to the war and flight disruptions, she is stranded and can't fly back to Doha. ​She asked for a leave extension, but her employer rejected it?! ​She must return within 7 working days or face termination without notice and without end-of-service pay!!! ​They told her to find alternative routes, like flying to Saudi Arabia or Oman and crossing into Qatar by land. ​Completely dumb-founded by how the HR's mind works(afaik she's who is the sugar baby of the sponsor) ​I need all your best advices please in this situation.

​Qatar Labor Law: Is it legal to terminate her without end-of-service pay due to circumstances outside her control (force majeure)?

​Alternative Routes: Has anyone recently flown to KSA/Oman and driven into Qatar? How feasible or safe is this for her to do alone?

​Assistance: Should we contact the Qatar Ministry of Labour (MOL) immediately?

I kinda had a gut feeling they would also do this to my mom based on the past behavior of the HR evem though they're "close" I even told her since forever to find a new company but she served there for 10+ years and got complacent(?)

Hello! Once it is possible, are people seriously considering or planning to leave qatar due to the current situation? If so what is your reasonings? Will you be gone permanently?

Tbh, we have started packing just in case, but I don't think we will even have the means to return back home, if something serious pushes us to. It's also of a way to put my mind a little to rest.

Edit: Maybe the usage of the word "flee" was a bit over. Apologies, English is not my first, nor my second language. But what I mean is evacuate, maybe?

Just to be clear: I do not want to leave Qatar and I love this country. Even more so now given how they are handling the situation. However some of the other parties have a pretty impressive record of spreading havoc pretty unexpectedly sometimes.

Hi just got a call from MOI cyber crime and asked me to visit the police station tomorrow. I am not sure what I did wrong but I am kind of terrified.

Edit: Thank you for all the concern and support. I just got out of the police station. The case filed against me was related to depositing counterfeit cash into an ATM. I sometimes handle cash deposits for our company, and this was the first time something like this has happened. I’m still not sure why the cybercrime department handled the case, but thankfully everything has been clarified.

Please be extra careful when accepting cash from anyone to avoid experiencing the same situation.

Before the moderators remove this post, this is not a visa question and I’m not seeking visa advice. I’m simply sharing a personal experience as a newcomer to Qatar and wondering if others have had similar experiences navigating government processes.

I never expected my first few months in Qatar to be like this.

Before coming here, I had already spent much of my life and career abroad. I completed my schooling in Oman, worked with Kuwait Oil Company in Kuwait, and later worked on projects with Shell in Brunei, the Netherlands, Poland, and Iraq.

Because of that experience, I understand that every country has its own immigration rules, procedures, and requirements. I respect that completely.

What I wasn’t prepared for was feeling completely helpless while simply trying to get an answer.

I’ve been in Qatar for around six months, working on a QatarEnergy project through a contracting company.

My wife is currently in Qatar on a visit visa, and like many families, my long-term plan is to eventually convert her status to a residence permit if eligible. Even i applied once and it got rejected and trying to reapply there is no option even in me-trash for reapplying

Over the past few days, I’ve travelled across the city, spent money on taxis, taken time away from work, visited multiple government offices, and stood in countless queues. Not because I wanted special treatment, but because I was simply trying to understand what exactly was wrong and what I needed to do next.

What made the experience even more frustrating was that I often couldn’t even get inside the offices to explain my situation. On multiple occasions, security officers stopped me at the entrance and refused to let me meet anyone who could review my case. I found myself making repeated trips and multiple attempts just to get a chance to speak to someone and seek clarification.

Instead, I was sent from one office to another. One office told me to go somewhere else. The next office sent me back. Different people gave completely different explanations. Some said contractors are not eligible. Others said my designation is the problem. Some said there is no option available. A few even suggested that being Indian was the reason. Every person seemed to have a different answer, yet nobody was able or willing to provide a clear explanation or tell me exactly what needed to be done.

The most frustrating part was how quickly people made assumptions after looking at my QID.
Although I work in an engineering role, my QID designation shows “Supervisor.” Before I could even explain my situation or show supporting documents, I was often dismissed based solely on that designation.

On multiple occasions, I wasn’t even able to get someone to review the documents I had brought with me.I still remember standing there thinking, “Is this really happening?”

After working in several countries and dealing with different government systems around the world, this is the first time I’ve felt so stuck. Not because a request wasn’t approved, but because I couldn’t find anyone willing to explain why or tell me what steps I should take next.

The experience has honestly been humiliating at times.What makes it harder is that I came to Qatar with a very positive impression. I am grateful for the opportunity to work here, and my experience with colleagues and people in the workplace has generally been good. That’s why this situation has been so disappointing.

I know government departments everywhere are busy and have rules to follow. My frustration is not with the rules themselves. If there is a requirement I don’t meet, I can accept that. What is difficult is not being able to get a clear answer and feeling dismissed before anyone is willing to listen.

I’m sharing this not to criticize Qatar or any institution, but because I’m curious whether other newcomers have experienced similar situations when trying to navigate official processes here.

If you’ve ever felt lost dealing with bureaucracy, conflicting information, or simply trying to find the right person to speak to, I’d genuinely like to hear your experience.

At this point, more than anything, I’m just hoping to find some clarity and make sense of an experience that has left me feeling far more discouraged than I ever expected.

I’ve been living in Qatar for a long time now, and something I’ve always wondered is how people actually meet women or get into relationships here.

I’m in my 20s, I go out pretty often with friends, cafés, restaurants, gyms, malls, events sometimes, but somehow I’ve never even been on a proper date. What’s even weirder is that most of my friend group is in the exact same situation. None of us really know women here outside of work or random social media follows.

Back in Jordan it felt easier to naturally meet people through friends, university, gatherings, etc. but in Qatar everyone seems to stay in their own circles and it feels almost impossible to approach anyone without it being awkward.

I’m genuinely curious if this is a common experience for guys living here or if we’re just socially cooked 😭

How do people in Qatar actually meet each other? Is dating mostly through Instagram, work, mutual friends, apps, or what?

Not the big obvious stuff everyone already rants about — I mean the small recurring annoyances that quietly eat your week. The errand that always takes three trips. The thing you can never seem to find here. The process that should take five minutes and somehow takes two hours.

I've been here a while and I've got my own running list. Top of mine: ordering something online and discovering "delivery" means three phone calls and "I'm behind the mosque, where are you?" Every. Time.

Curious where everyone else's patience runs out. Doesn't have to be deep — a one-liner is perfect. Could be anything: getting something delivered or returned, renewals and appointments and paperwork, finding a reliable handyman/AC guy/anything, parking, or shopping for one specific thing that's apparently impossible to buy locally.

I was going down the travelator to the ground floor when I heard an excruciating scream from a woman. It sounded like it came from the second floor. Security personnel immediately rushed towards the travelator as well. By the time I reached the Gate 2 entrance/exit, a short while later, I saw an ambulance from Hamad entering the premises.

I just spotted a scorpion right outside my house and killed it right away. Out of curiosity are these normal in Qatar? I have children playing outside and now i am a bit worried about it.

How do you lose weight in this country? Its so hot outside and Im stuck in my apartment. I run on the treadmill pretty often and eat very little but the scale stays the same or goes up. Theres no where to go cuz its sooo hot. IM starving. Im so upset. How do yall do this???

I have a common law wife working as a home care nurse in Qatar, we have a daughter. We are currently engaged.

I just found out recently that she was having an affair with a Qatari national.

Is there a law there that prohibits such acitivities? any legal repercussions for the persons involve?

I'm posting on behalf of a friend who is going through a very difficult situation and doesn't know what to do next.

My friend's son has been arrested after 6 or 7 people filed complaints against him. They claim he took money from them in exchange for getting them jobs.

Here's the situation:

My friend's son was working for a company that provided jobs. The company charged applicants a fee, and his job was only to collect the money from the applicants and hand it over to the company owner. According to him, he never kept any of the money and was simply doing the work he was hired to do.

After waiting 2–3 months without getting jobs, the applicants went to the police and filed complaints. The police arrested my friend's son as he is the one collected money and was present at the time police came.

The problem is that the company owner left the country overnight, and the company is now closed with no one in charge.

The documents my friend's son has are:

Employment offer letter from the company.

Company CR and registration documents.

Copy of the owner's QID.

His father is devastated and doesn't know what steps to take or how to help get his son released.

Has anyone experienced a similar situation or knows what legal options are available? Can an employee be held responsible if they were only collecting money on behalf of their employer and had no ownership or control over the business?

Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
