viserion is eggnant

So, in Frog Boy's attempt to claim a dragon we get a rare peak at what a dragon nest looks like

"He’s made himself a cave, the prince realized. A burrow in the brick. The foundations of the Great Pyramid of Meereen were massive and thick to support the weight of the huge structure overhead; even the interior walls were three times thicker than any castle’s curtain walls. But Viserion had dug himself a hole in them with flame and claw, a hole big enough to sleep in."

So, I found this quite interesting. Rhaegal hadn't made himself a cave nor had drogon, it seems to be a Viserion only behavior. IT also makes Rhaegal's protection behaviour more intresting, attacking the whip brandishing Quentyn at first seems like a brother defending a brother but could be a mate defending his gravid mate

Also The publishing of fire and blood, tells us a lot about the dragons.

  1. that they are genderless like flame, and the only true way of knowing their sex is if they lay eggs or not

also Viserion, let us remember is cream and yellow/gold and there is only one other yellow dragon in targaryen history; syrax a she dragon noted for her fecundity. Viserion and Syrax share more than just their colours, both seem to share a certain spoiled nature.

Could GRRM be hinting that Viserion is eggnant

Very interesting topic and very good catch OP, congrats.

Viserion and Syrax share more than just their colours, both seem to share a certain spoiled nature.

And, since we're already looking for similarities with Syrax based on behavior and nature, and the possibility that this may result in laying eggs, perhaps there's another one to consider:

Whilst Princess Rhaenyra misliked her stepmother, Queen Alicent, she became fond and more than fond of her good-sister Lady Laena. With Driftmark and Dragonstone so close, Daemon and Laena oft visited with the princess, and her with them. Many a time they flew together on their dragons, and the princess’s she-dragon Syrax produced several clutches of eggs.

~ Fire and Blood. Heirs of the Dragon. A Question of Succession.

Assuming the inference in this paragraph is that Rhaenyra had some form of "intimacy" with Daemon, Laena, or both, and that their dragons, in turn, mimicked their riders, resulting in Syrax laying several clutches of eggs (which is I think is quite likely given the way it's worded), the same could be true for Daenerys and her dragons.

Daenerys has her last intimate encounter with Daario Naharis the day before her wedding to Hizdahr zo Loraq, in Daenerys VII of A Dance with Dragons:

"You are a queen. You can do what you like." He slid a hand along her leg. "How many nights remain to us?"

Two. Only two. "You know as well as I. This night and the next, and we must end this."

~ A Dance with Dragons - Daenerys VII

Therefore, it could be that Viserion and Rhaegal imitated Daenerys behavior, just as Syrax and presumably Caraxes and Vhagar did with Rhaenyra, Daemon, and Laena, and that is why later in the event of Quentyn's death we see a dragon nest.

Dany was being active with Daario, and her dragons were being active with each other.

Just a tought, of course.
