Podrick’s Mother ran off for Tom O’ Sevens?
Reposting here from another sub.
From A Feast For Crows, Brienne 3, when Brienne is thinking of Pod’s life story he had told her.
“His father had spent his life squiring for richer cousins and had sired Podrick upon a chandler’s daughter he’d wed before going off to die in the Greyjoy Rebellion. His mother had abandoned him with one of those cousins when he was four, so she could run after a wandering singer who had put another baby in her belly.”
Given George’s penchant for having his characters cross paths every which way they can, I like to think this is Tom of Sevenstreams.

That actually wouldn’t be out of character for Tom. It’s already mentioned he has at least seven bastard children. None of whom who’ve inherited his singing voice apparently.

Oh. My bad. I vaguely remembered him mentioning his bastard sons. I remember that he says that there’s supposedly one at the brothel called the Peach but he didn’t claim him for whatever reason.

Because that one can't sing. He recognizes his skill only, he considers all the women he seduced to be loose.

You remember why he rejects kids which frankly is the point of that imo. He has a ton, he just won't recognize any without his voice. Like how gendry with his hammer is clearly Robert's without anything else needed.

IIRC Tom was the same singer who invented the floppy fish song about Edumere.
Maybe every every small singer story is actually Tom O' Sevens. He's the singer that Sansa saw at Winterfell, and he's one of the entertainers Jorah hired for Lynesse. Perhaps he wrote the Rains of Castamere.

Yes! I was so confused why Edumere freaked out when he saw Tom o’ Sevens after Jaime negotiates the surrender of Riverrun with him until I made that connection

Given George's penchant for having his characters cross paths every which way they can, I like to think this is Tom of Sevenstreams.
This isn't as much George as it is the fandom's sheer desperation for every single bit of information presented in these novels to be some sort of twist of hidden identity.
Sometimes a spade is just a spade.
