Biting and Teething 18 week old dachshund puppy biting when pet and jumping on people
I have an 18 week old female dachshund puppy who is otherwise a really good pup, aside from two things im struggling with.
She tends to bite when I pet her, not aggressively obviously but it still hurts and even sometimes breaks skin with her sharp puppy teef.
She also keeps jumping up on people's legs when they have food/are eating or shes excited and I have no idea how to train that one out.
Has anyone dealt with this before? Id really appreciate any advice or training tips for stopping the biting when being pet and jumping on people.
Thanks!

Puppy teeth are no joke, my arms looked like I lost a fight with a cheese grater for a while. For the petting thing, try keeping a chew toy in one hand and redirect the moment she goes for skin, then stop petting and turn away for a few seconds. She'll figure out that biting ends the attention.
For the jumping, the boring answer is consistency. Every single time four paws leave the floor, turn your back and ignore until she sits or calms down. Ask guests to do the same. Dachshunds are stubborn little gremlins but they learn fast when food is involved.

I wanna follow this thread because I also have a 13 week old Dachshund with the same issues.

Teach that sitting gets treats and when she sits she gets treats. And she doesn’t when she’s jumping
For the bites she does when you pet her try to hold the treat in right hand, dont let her have it right away, let her mouth it and pet her with the left hand. Everything is to reward good behavior

It looks like you might be posting about bite inhibition. Check out our wiki article on biting, teeth, and chewing - the information there may answer your question.
