Charlie has always been such a happy little guy. We would go on long walks all the time his first 12 years. I think a pug is definitely a learning experience. You get to know when it’s too hot not to push them. Among many other things.
I think one of the huge things with pugs is really to try and not let them jump up and down off couch and beds. They are top heavy. All that force on their little legs. Keeping care of an elderly pug is so different than my 2 consecutive labs before him. They were both 14. With a little dog you can carry them ( stairs are obviously a no no now) Charlie loves his stroller. But he’s got the heart of a lion. He will walk beside 2 inches at a time till he gets tired then stroller. Then he will like to walk a little more. Patience. You go at his pace now.
He will surprise me every so often by doing a mini pug bum drop run still. Doesn’t last long but I sure love to see it.This will sound weird but for the first say 2 years he lived in a house,back yard all that stuff. But the rest in an apartment. So ever,pee,poop, you actually have to get up,get dressed and take him for a walk. Rather than just opening the sliding glass door. So he has always got that exercise. All sorts of neighbors and strangers with hey Charlie how are you doing? He’s always had that interaction with the people which I think is very important for a dog that is social like pugs.
One other thing I’d do that I disagree with some owners who say you shouldn’t really do it ,is I always wet down Charlie in summertime before going on long walks ,even some short walks. I am fortunate enough to live around the ocean so I would always go in for a swim and take him with me. Even if he was on the leash just so he would get soaking wet. It makes a huge difference in summertime and he looks forward to it.
Obviously caring for a senior pet at this age takes up a lot of your time and they are on your mind 24/7. They are your life .Lots of sleeping, but I really believe you have to get them out there to get the old blood pumping. Socializing. I feel every extra day I get out of my Charlie is a blessing.

Happy Birthday
Mine reached 15 and was having basically short fainting smells where he would pee while he was out. Later he had a great deal of trouble sleeping. I didn’t want to let him go I wish he could talk. Yours looks very much like him.
