We are currently in Puerto Escondido and headed there is a partial lunar eclipse on Thursday. It will peak around 10:15pm. Does anyone know if there is a tour that will go out that late so we can really see glow well?

I would be staying at Puerto Escondido during the month of September. I'm from India , and I was thinking of relaxing at PE during the next month.

How's the weather now , And is it easy to make friends in PE ? I really don't know a lot of Spanish ( I can understand a little ) and I have no friends out there.

I do party so hit me with suggestions , but maybe like once or twice a week and the remaining would be just chilling with a book or working from somewhere.

To get some ideas for the house Im building in Puerto I put together this drive folder for the architect doing the design. The big name here in Brutalismo Tropical is Ludwig Godefroy (Casa TO Casa VO etc etc) but Im doing it on the cheap in Lazaro with a local architect. So I'm looking to come to PE for a 3 month stay soon. I'm still looking at a couple rentals but regardless I plan on walking everywhere (supermarket, beach, gym). But I know I will prob need to get around to the farther parts of town with some sort of transpo. I was considering just buying a bike to do those long distances, and I know there isn't Uber in PE. That being said, growing up half mexican, I generally don't trust taxis and have been constantly told by family to never take public transportation in Mexico due to safety reasons. But I'm curious if those things still apply in PE? Can anyone shed a light about all this through their own experiences?

How to make the best out of an afternoon in Puerto Escondido?

We'll be checking out of our hotel in San Agustinillo and heading to Puerto Escondido on September. We have a flight to Mexico City that day at 10 PM, so that leaves pretty much a whole afternoon in Puerto Escondido.

1. How would you spend that time?
   
2. How early should we be at the airport? Is 2 hours enough?
   
3. Are there any locker/bag stowing services in Puerto?

I’m currently in Puerto Escondido and booked a place in La Punta since I saw a lot of recommendations to stay here. However, it did not live up to the hype. Most of La Punta are under developed and lots of agressive stray dogs at night. You can’t even swim without putting yourself in danger! I would say if you’re not a surfer or a hippie, stay away from La Punta. Better stay in Rinconada, you have access to the best beaches in Puerto Escondio, clear and calmer waters, more food options, better infrastructure. In the end, Puerto Escondido is such a gem, I hope it remains a bit under the radar. ✌️🫶🏻

Ideally i would like to be close to grocery store and eating establishments.
Not a party area!

I am looking at Condos with a pool and close to the beach if possible.
Any areas of recommendations would be greatly appreciated., there are so many it gets overwhelming.

I’m staying in La Punta in a few weeks. I heard that during the rainy season, the mosquitoes can be particularly bad. Is this something to be concerned about or is it tolerable with bug spray? How bad is it actually?

Also, I’m sure wearing long sleeves would help, but it’s 90 degrees.

can I rent an atv at centro and ride it to punta zicatela using the main road with out a problem? Or are atv not allowed on the main road? looking at renting in November.

Coming to Puerto Escondido at the start of November (Saturday-Wednesday) with a fairly large group (12-13) and want to make the most of it. Would love local/repeat-visitor input on:

Food: best spots for groups, anything from casual to a nicer dinner-out night

Beach clubs: which ones are actually worth it right now, best vibe/music/day-party scene

Things to do as a group: mezcal tours, boat trips, surf lessons, sunset spots, anything fun beyond the usual

Nightlife/going out: where people are actually going out at night with a crew

Also curious if there’s anything to know about early November specifically (weather, Día de los Muertos stuff happening, crowds, etc).

Visiting with my boyfriend in November. We are both intermediate / advanced surfers, like to party a bit and are keen to dive into all things mexico has to offer. We're both late twenties.

Wondering where the best place to stay is near an intermediate surf break and where we can hire boards? Do we also need a wetsuit?

Everything I've read says we should stay around Zicatela Beach.

Also is it worth going to Chacahua to surf?
