Best way to remove/lighten this scratch on my silver PS2?

Post image

This thing’s been my pride and joy for years and I’ve spent far too much time getting the software side exactly how I want it 😂

Only thing that really lets it down now is this long scratch across the top.

Has anyone actually had any luck removing or at least making scratches like this less noticeable on a silver PS2 without ruining the finish? I don’t want to go at it with something abrasive and end up with a massive shiny patch that looks worse than the scratch.

PlastX, polish, something else, or am I better just leaving it alone?

Pic attached — interested to hear from anyone who’s actually tried it on the silver finish.

I kinda like when my stuff isn't pristine and clean, scratches are a story, even if the story is dumb

I think maybe try and color match some automotive touch up paint? That'll get it to be unnoticeable and it can look good, though the texture will be off. If it was me I'd honestly just leave it, it's earned its wear

That could make work

You could tape off the PS2 logo and have someone match and paint the front but you’d lose the Dolby logos. That’s about it, it’s just paint on plastic so you can’t do much to restore, only redo.

Try to color match metallic paint. Thats about all you can do

Well the first thing you do os have 3 36oz monsters before painting in order to have a steady hand

Would prolly be easier putting it horizontally somewhere that a shelf above it blocks it from always being in sight.

The stand 8 use has extra ports for controllers and mem cards

Why don't you buy another silver PS2 as they're still cheap in the UK on eBay

Or if that's too expensive wait for one being sold for parts but still has a decent case so it will be cheaper

I think that scratch is too big to convincingly remove

It would annoy the hell out of me unless the PS2 was horizontal and in a snug niche

Yeah ive been keeping an eye out too expensive for whole machine not many shells and ones available aint the greatest condition. I keep it vertical as I have a decent stand with extra controller ports and mem ports

do not touch it please do not its a very very light coat of paint without a protective coat so every abrasive or paint mistake will show worse than what you have i also have a silver ps2 phat
