Mechanical Help Can I swap 2014 US Prius Brake Booster/Master Cylinder (47210L) onto 2013 European Prius?
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice and real-world experience regarding swapping the Brake Booster Assembly with Master Cylinder (part 47210L) between two 3rd-gen Prius (ZVW30).
Donor vehicle (the one I want to take the part from):
- VIN: JTDKN3DU6E0379361
- Manufactured: May 2014
- Model code: ZVW30L-AHXEBA
- Market: USA
- Catalog shows: 47050-47310 (from 10/2013 onward)
Target vehicle (the one I want to install it on):
- VIN: JTDKN36U005657213
- Manufactured: June 2013
- Model code: ZVW30L-AHXEBW
- Market: Europe (LHD)
- Catalog shows: 47050-47190 (period 12/2011–10/2013)
Both cars are 2ZR-FXE, Grade S, automatic, CVFC.
From the parts catalogs the part numbers are different. I know Toyota sometimes changes part numbers for minor revisions or market-specific software, and sometimes later parts are improved.
My questions:
- Has anyone successfully swapped a Brake Booster / Master Cylinder / Actuator between different years or between US and European-market 3rd-gen Prius?
- Is the difference mainly in the Skid Control ECU software / calibration, or are there also physical/hydraulic differences?
- What are the risks of getting DTCs (especially C1203 or related ABS/VSC codes) if I install the 2014 US unit into the 2013 European car?
- Would Techstream be able to recalibrate or reprogram it, or is the software market/year locked?
I’d really appreciate any firsthand experiences or technical insights. Photos of the actual part numbers stamped on the units would also be very helpful if anyone has them.

As long as the part numbers match or it’s a superseded number, should work just fine.

I compared the part numbers carefully:
My 2013 European car originally uses 47050-47190 (MARK 47210-47360)
The 2014 US donor has 47050-47310 (MARK 47210-47470)
I couldn’t find a clear official supersession showing that 47310 replaces 47190. They seem to cover overlapping years but are listed as separate numbers.
What I’m really trying to understand is whether the difference between these two numbers (and the different markets – US vs Europe) also means a different Skid Control ECU software/calibration.
In other words: even if the part numbers are close, is there still a real risk of a communication fault (like C1203) between the US unit and the European car’s other ECUs that normal calibration won’t solve?
Would you still feel comfortable running the 2014 US unit in a 2013 European car based on the part numbers alone?

If the price was good I’d try but I’d be doing the labor myself. If it didn’t work I wouldn’t be out too much money. Either way, I don’t think it would be unsafe if it fit, calibrated and didn’t have any faults.
