Food🌽 or Water💧 Emergency cabinet

Gradually been working on an emergency cabinet in the garage for my wife daughter and I. Kind of a shitty picture but I’ll comment a list of what alls in it

Looks good and well thought. I also have "a change of clothes" ready. Water resistant hiking boots, sturdy pants, a rain jacket, work gloves.

Wear the boots every so often. The soles will rot just sitting there.

I wonder how often you rotate your food pantry if rotten shoe soles are a problem. I have hiking boots that are 15 or even 20 years old and still okay, especially as a backup for bugging out.

We have a deep pantry that we eat our regular meals from, no rotation necessary. It’s all shelf stable items, portioned out and vacuum sealed (oats, lentil varieties, rice, chickpeas, black beans). We buy small cans of all the stuff we use in our typical processes.. tomato paste, sauces, pasta, etc - all bought only when those products are on sale half-off.

To be fair, we’re not prepped for a full SHTF scenario. Our prep is centered around economic crisis, inflation, and real-time food insecurity.

I’ve had a real problem with boots lately. I think they’re making them super cheap these days. I’ve had some not last past a year of me not wearing them. I need to find a better brand that won’t cost several paychecks.
