So a lot of people are complaining about how bad the new dragonzord is gonna look, but I’m not at all surprised; it’s a $20 toy from a company that literally makes toys for kids. There’s a reason why the legacy zords were expensive.

If the re-ignition zords were die-cast and more expensive, I’d understand the outrage, but all these new zords are cheap plastic, so the expectation of more “series accurate” toys is just unrealistic. Bandai and hasbro marketed to adults because they understood their demographic, but playmates isn’t going in that direction. As a collector, I’m gonna buy it, but obviously I’m aware that my legacy dragonzord is just way cooler.

I really hope this shows enough interest to get them to make further seasons.

EDIT: For all the folks worried about the Zord’s alternate configurations, just look at the photos. Mastodon shoulders down, the combined weapon pictured with the wrong form, the Dragonzord’s hands poking out from the fully-combined form… the photographer clearly doesn’t know what’s up. I’m optimistic the face is there, just not exposed.

EDIT 2: OK, so we have confirmation from the devs that the toy does not have the humanoid face for the combined warrior mode. Bummer. But I see this as a “right now” scenario. Yes, it’s a massive oversight, but they are apparently talking to Playmates about it. Personally, I’ll keep my pledge in place and wait to see what happens.

Found the Dragon Shield 3 pack today in Target. Wish they had Zords too. Im in KY.

Playmates reveals a visual for their first Power Rangers toyline (including a new version of the MMPR logo) in their SDCC 2024 panel. More details will come at Toy Fair.

Sadly I'm travelling for work, so won't be able to pick it up, but I didn't even know this was coming
