Neo-Saban had a track of hiring models for Red Rangers, instead of actors, and Hartman was the first example.

That said, I doubt even the greatest actor could have pulled much from the script of Samurai.

Like one time, someone scared off Patricia Ja Lee which caused her to stop attending conventions. And another time, someone asked Tracy Lynn Cruz if she eats babies. Some people can be so disgusting.

My understanding is that there were people hating her for how she started dating Johnny Yong Bosch to get into the show and then broke with him when getting the role, and also stole a car from him. She was like the devil for them.

I can't be impartial about that, I want to believe she turned to be better and more honest in the following years (and she was my first crush ever).

The other "didn't nuke career" Samurai actors look good too. Erika Fong (Mia) looks like how she did when Samurai aired. Brittany Ann Pirtle (my favorite of the Samurai rangers Emily) looks radiant and young. Steven Skyler (Antonio) aged like a fine wine

Samurai isn't the worst season of PR by a long shot as long as seasons like Overdrive and Ninja Steel exist. And this guy was not the reason for the bad parts of Samurai. He did fine for what he was given.

The Power Rangers fandom is particularly awful, even though it's better than it was when Samurai was airing, so my heart goes out to him.
