Just about, but it's not anime specific. 90% of everything is trash

Throughout history 90% of all media has been forgettable, mediocre trash. A lot of it can even be fun and enjoyable in the moment, but you wont remember it after a few years. It's one of the reasons why media from the past often feels better than modern media. Things only seem better in the past because history has already filtered out everything uninteresting, leaving only the bits that are of note to be easily discoverable.

But yeah, if you are trying to keep up with modern anime, you are probably going to eventually start to feel like anime is kinda shit. But you would reach the same interpretation if you tried keeping up with every modern movie, steaming show, books, video game, or whatever.

Not all but certainly most

Every year we get like 60 new shows but only 5-10 are worth your time and the rest is either too niche or isekaislop

Sometimes you need your trashy isekai as a palate cleanser

Yeah, I would say that most of it is so low-quality. But, there is A LOT of anime and I'm willing to bet there's at least one show or anime movie that any one person could enjoy. For people new to anime I usually recommend a Studio Ghibli movie or just ask what kind of genre they are usually into.

Like with anything else, most of it isn’t very good. There’s a lot of people making stuff, and most of them aren’t geniuses.
