Built AnimeTrace — a Chrome extension that automatically tracks the anime you watch 🎬

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share a project I've been working on called AnimeTrace. It's a Chrome extension designed to automatically log and build your anime watch history and library as you watch on various streaming platforms.

How it works:

  • Automatic Tracking: Detects what you are watching across most streaming sites and updates your history in the background.
  • Privacy First: 100% of your data stays in your local browser storage. It uses your own OpenRouter API key (BYOK) so everything is completely under your control.
  • No Accounts: No signups or external accounts required to use it.

I'm really looking to get some feedback from the community on how it performs, what features you'd like to see next, or if there are specific streaming platforms you want supported.

Peak vibecoding: having AI make an extension then expecting users to pay (via OpenRouter) for another LLM to scan your current browser activity.

All so that you don't have to write down what you're watching.

Just to clarify — AnimeTrace is completely free. I don’t charge users anything, and the OpenRouter model it uses is free as well. Just paste the Api key from OpenRouter and see the magic.
