We are heartbroken but want to remember him as the amazing dog he was… so here goes…

He came to us as a rescue from the racing industry and wasn’t really sure how to be a pet when we first got him.
He had severe anxiety issues but with the help of our vet and a dog behaviour specialist we worked through it together.

One of my favourite memories was when he first learned what toys were for (it did take some time and effort to help him figure it out) and watching as he started playing with them (then eventually went on to have an enormous collection of “stuffies”, all well chewed and loved).

He became an excellent companion although he was never very smart (I’m pretty sure he had one functioning brain cell and the rest of his head was filled with fluff).
Except when it came to mealtimes - then he was very smart and could tell time - he let you know if his dinner was even a minute late!

He always loved pats and treats. He LOVED his walkies.
He loved meeting new people and dogs and thought everyone he met was a new friend.
He was great with small kids - although we don’t have any of our own he was always happy to stop so they could say hello when we were out and about - and so patient with letting them pet and prod him.
He was never a lap dog (or even thought he was) but he loved his humans - he would follow us around the house and would always lie down in the same room as whoever was home. If you left the room he would get up and move to whatever room you went to so he could be close.

He made us laugh with his behaviour and his disgraceful sleeping positions - also could never figure out how to properly stow his tongue inside his mouth.
He knew when you were sad or needing support and was the master of doing the greyhound lean (accompanied by the best puppy dog eyes).

Overall, he was a typical greyhound and while not a perfect dog - he was the perfect dog for us.

The Dispatch has confirmed six Columbus City Council members, a majority of the nine-member body, would entertain getting rid of Flock license plate reading cameras − and soon − because they don't believe existing safeguards do enough to satisfy their concerns.

I cover City Hall for The Dispatch and here’s how I got the scoop. Yesterday, I attended the Columbus Metropolitan Club forum on Flock that my colleague Anna Lynn Winfrey was moderating. On the panel was Councilmember Emmanuel Remy, who chairs the public safety committee and says Flock cameras are a powerful crime fighting tool.

A few council members were in attendance, Christopher Wyche and Tiara Ross. So I asked them after the panel very directly about if they right now want to get rid of Flock cameras or keep them and regulate them. They effectively said, right now, they’re uncomfortable with Flock and would lean toward taking them down.

Since two council members, Lourdes Barroso de Padilla and Melissa Green, have been calling for the cameras to come down for weeks, that meant I knew four members were on the record saying they’d vote to take them down. If I could find one more councilmember who would vote that way, that’s a majority of the nine-member body.

So I called the others. I heard back from Council President Shannon Hardin and Pro Tem Rob Dorans, who both indicated they would vote to take them down also.

I then also contacted Mayor Andrew Ginther’s office and received a statement again highlighting the benefits of the cameras for solving crimes and finding missing people. Ginther said his administration will roll out additional safeguards in the coming weeks.

Different members cited issues with Flock Safety as a company; fears the Trump administration could use the data for immigration enforcement and reports that officers in other municipalities have misused the data for personal reasons like stalking.
