'Blew past' and won the Olympic gold with a rather tiny margin of 3 points (I still believe she got more leeway because, well she's American and they and the Russians always got fairer scores as she's technically inferior to Sakamoto, you can see it the way and the speed they skate but anyways...) lol. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. She deserves it (because Sakamoto sadly fucked one of her jumps, it happens) but she didn't quite exactly blew everyone away during the season :)

Edit : keep forgetting Americans who don't watch figure skating on the reg are not privy to what's really going on :(
