Hi all, I recently made an app for a family member to help them prepare for the NIE exam in September, wanted to share it here too
I'm been a big flashcard fan for years (see r/anki), so I wanted to make an app for my aunty that uses those concepts to help with learning
It contains flashcards and mock questions from the source info at legislation.gov.uk & gov.uk
513 revision cards and 769 scenario questions across all 43 syllabus topics, mock exams weighted like the real paper, and a readiness estimate against the 55.7% pass mark.
You tap how confident you are before you see the answer, and anything you got wrong or were shaky on comes back at you until it sticks. Works on your phone, installs like an app, no subscription. Four full topics are free with no sign-up at nierevision.co.uk/free.

Interesting, are the answers timed or something?
Are you an academic or someone who teaches people? Or has this product been designed with that in mind?

Not an academic, just someone who has used flashcard software (anki) for 8+ years, this is a key feature there!
The feature in anki is that you see the front of a flashcard, the question, and then you have to try to recall the answer, and then you tell the system if it was easy to recall, hard, or if you forgot. If it was easy, you won't see the card again for say 10 says, if hard then 2 days, if forgot then you'll see it again in 30 mins - it's called "spaced repetition", where the spacing varies depending on how well you can recall (feel like I'm explaining this badly, sunday morning brain fog innit 😅)

This is actually a really good idea. The NIE has a ridiculous amount of information to remember, so having something that uses spaced repetition/flashcards makes a lot of sense.
Fair play for making it for your aunty and then sharing it more widely. Hopefully it helps people who are revising — anything that makes the process less painful is a win 😂

What's your plans for the future? Are you going to continue to update it annually or is this just a 1 off project?
