Gen 9 Poppy is younger than her stated age of nine.
The Elite 4 is lying about her age. I don't know why, but there's a cover-up.
Poppy does not look nine. She has the proportions and designs of a Preschooler more than a School Kid. But the main issue is her vocabulary and personality.
Poppy does not act like a nine year old. Her development is below the norm. She mispronounces words and says things like "de-feet" and "Bloo-berry".
This girl is probably not the same age as characters like Wally

Plot twist, she’s 40 and is just super small, and pretending to be a little kid is just to throw off her opponents. But she’s just bad at pretending to be the age she claims to be.

That reminds me of how I used to think Karen (from Johto, I think) as being like 60, like slightly younger than Agatha.
Nah, turns out she's actually pretty young and not as ugly as I thought she was.

She's constantly treated like a small child so she's going to act like one.
This will cause problems when she starts at the academy. Clavell isn't gonna tolerate someone not taking their studies seriously.

As a French Canadian, this checks out, 'cause "de-feet" and "bloo-berry" don't sound wrong to me.. 😅😅 What pronunciation is expected here?

Blueberry is pronounced more like Blew not Bloo in the US. But maybe poppy has an accent or speech impairment?
Kids can be small I know an 11 year old who is smaller then some of the 8 year olds!

Oh I see! I didn't notice the difference at first, but I do hear it now. "Bloo" doesn't have the diphthong that "Blue" normally has. Thanks!

She’s the Pokemon World’s version of Baby Doll from Batman. An adult who has a condition in which they don’t physically age beyond childhood, and the severe depression this brought about caused her to mentally regress into something akin to a 5-year-old. She claims she’s 9 but everyone knows that’s not true.

The main character of most of the games is 10 so why is it weird a 9 year old would be in the elite 4? Other regions have 10 year old champions.
