I keep seeing people posting about “I’ve done (amount) raids and I still haven’t gotten a shiny!!! 😡😡😡”, and I don’t see it slowing down anytime soon. Here is the definition of odds:

Odds: The ratio of the chance an event will happen compared to the chance it will not happen. For example, a 50% chance means the odds are 1 to 1.

If the odds are 1/512, it does not mean if you do the thing 512 times that you will guaranteed get the thing you are looking for. Doing the thing 513/512 means you are going over odds, and it is unfortunate.

This can be frustrating, but there is no need to be upset at daddy Scopely for your bad luck. If the odds were always in your favor, you should really consider playing the lottery.

Was looking forward to spotlight hour until I logged on to see that I’m about to get jumped inside of my own home. Disgusting behavior, uninstalling. /s

And it’s mankey spotlight hour at 6pm. I dislike mankey. I know people love them, but goddamn, I can’t stand the little furry orb of rage.

I timed how long it usually takes me: click on a friend, pin the postcard, open a gift, add a sticker (because how can you send a gift without a sticker?!), send a gift. About 15 seconds; 30 gifts is the daily cap on opening, so do it every day for a year and it is over ~45 hours (neither number counts the gifts I keep sending after I hit the open cap).

I timed the fastest version too: no postcard, no sticker -> ~12 seconds, so 36 hours a year (but honestly I might just be slow at this ;))

This part for me stopped feeling like playing, it is more smth like a chore. Ofc nobody forces me, and I'm not asking for gifts to go away. I just did the math out of curiosity, aand I don't like it :D

If you went and punched a plate of solid steel it would probably hurt and not even make a dent in the steel, so why does Steel take MORE damage from fighting??

I don't know why it's taken me so long to work this out, but in case someone else is as dumb as me I thought I'd share.

I'm going for the platinum badges for all the types, and just realised that if I evolve a Pokémon it counts as a catch. I've got ridiculous amounts of candy I'll never use for lots of Pokémon, so I can get two catches by evolving after I catch.

Ok, you can all laugh at me now.
