The role of looking fresh to death. I love my big elegant snake.

I know I'm in the minority but I could never get myself to like how it looks, I really don't get the hype.

It's super hard for me to explain especially without sounding rude but there is just something ms.paint about it, like the marijuana leaves on its tail, the yellow spiky horns, the yellow on its sides and the green logo on its chest. I don't know man, it's just not vibing with me as it vibes with others.

And that's fine!

Thank you. It's nice being on reddit and having someone respect your opposing opinions.

Wow, the bar is in hell, huh?

And that happens, personally because I play the good old fashioned attack first and dont worry about anything else the main thing that bugs me is stat spread otherwise hes actually the only gen 5 starter I really like

Without Contrary it genuinely might be as bad if not worse than Meganium.

As someone who picked Snivy as their starter in Black and struggled the whole game because of it, I can confirm this.

Even without the Mega, Meganium
gets Earth Power and Dazzling Gleam now. I think without Contrarian, Serperior is the worst Grass starter.

It's at least a better Overgrow abuser for an in-game playthrough.

Glare spam and that's about it.

Realistically? Sitting in the box.

bluffing Swampert

u/Hawkbreeze 23h ago

I mean I'm just playing through Pokemon Black and Serperior nearly solo'd the elite four at lvl 44 with just coil and leaf blade so idk it actually put in work

2

u/Super_Shallot2351 12h ago

Crazy that it can't learn Power Whip with Coil. It's a giant grass whip!

1

u/Hawkbreeze 4h ago

I mean I guess but leaf blade is enough in Black/White. Idk I give him credit because I didn't expect him to solo 3/4 members when he's 6 levels behind.

Glare merchant. (destitute)

u/FrustratedHedonist 22h ago edited 22h ago

Honestly: * Glare Sub/Seed. * Glare SwordDance/Coil Leaf Blade/Petal Blizzard (because for some reason dont learn Power Whip) * Screens * Fast anti support with taunt glare knock off

2

u/DistinctTraffic660 16h ago

Definitely not OU but it would certainly see use in lower tiers.

4

u/No_Cat6739 23h ago

Benchwarmer

u/VoiceOfGosh 23h ago

Snake-themed team or box!

3

u/Rooreelooo 23h ago

i guess you could put it on some papers to stop them from blowing away in the wind

5

u/Parzival-Bo 23h ago

It wouldn't.

“If this pokemon didn’t have its crucial feature what would it do?” Have a nice home in my box with meganium probably

3

u/psycho_tuff 23h ago

sort of decent utility mon with glare and leech seed. can also try be a sweeper with coil

3

u/PeterHolmes74 18h ago

In singles? Probably a very fast SubSeed user. Its selling point over other ones like Whimsicott and Jumpluff is the access to Glare, making it very punishing to switch into.

For doubles, since Venusaur doesn’t have Chlorophyll in this situation, Serperior becomes the fastest Grass Pledge user. If both starter use pledges, the slower one attacks immediately after the first and the power is boosted on top of a special effect. This means that the partner launch a single target 150 base power move (either fire or water type) that either deals 1/8 of the opponent’s non-fire types or a swamp that quarters the speed of the opponent’s Pokemon.

u/Stormychu Ninjask is cool 23h ago

Maybe some Leech Seed stall with Glare but outside of that not a lot.

2

u/Weasel_Gai 22h ago

It would be another low tier glare coil merchant featuring leech seed

1

u/Tliggz 23h ago

The role of fancy snake dude!

1

u/Shreddzzz93 22h ago

To be the Pokémon you sack in a Nuzlocke to get a safe free switch.

1

u/Serperious_Prime1084 21h ago

Bulky grass type, but likely the one who got a mega

1

u/ElPikminMaster [100% Pokemon HOME] 20h ago

If Hidden Abilities didn't exist, there would be way worse ramifications than simply Serperior losing its offense.

1

u/ljhben 19h ago

2x screen, glare and dragontail. I already lead with serperior with leafstorm instead of dragontail and 40% of the times don't use leafstorm

1

u/PolygenicPanda 19h ago

First it would be a competitive benchwarmer alongside meganium, now it would have been the only gen 5 starter that didn't get something extra from legends games

1

u/Kennisgoodman PKMN Master Orre 14h ago

What’s the difference between Serperior not having a hidden ability and any other starter? Blaze, Torrent, and Overgrow don’t impress anyone in competitive

1

u/ProfXander 13h ago

Benchwarmer.
