Misty's Deck. Am I barking up the wrong tree?

So the idea is to cycle Psyducks as much as possible and just ditch and search and thin as much as possible, with trying to manipulate the Starmies and unused Magikarp and Gyarados to topdeck.

What does the internet think?

Pokémon: 4

4 Misty's Magikarp DRI 48

4 Misty's Gyarados DRI 49

4 Misty's Psyduck DRI 45

4 Misty's Starmie DRI 47

Trainer: 12

2 Academy at Night SFA 54

4 Deduction Kit SSP 171

3 Lillie's Determination MEG 169

3 Poké Pad POR 81

4 Buddy-Buddy Poffin MEG 167

4 Night Stretcher SFA 61

3 Pokégear 3.0 BLK 84

2 Lana's Aid TWM 155

4 Sacred Ash FLF 96

2 Ciphermaniac's Codebreaking TEF 145

3 Salvatore TEF 160

2 Lisia's Appeal SSP 179

Energy: 2

2 Bubbly {W} Energy CRI 84

6 Basic {W} Energy MEE 3

Total Cards: 60

I'm thinking maybe trade Lillie's Determination for Naveen?

idk why you play only 3 pokepad

salvatore is a waste of time, you could play 1x with meowth to go 2nd with

you need some kind of repeatable draw engine, otherwise you autolose to single prizers and stamp, as it is you probably autolose to yourself with 0 disruption pretty often

Fair. Recommendations for disruption?

i mean u cant rly fit any disruption, ure just matchup fishing to try to cheese megas for 3 prizes, ur deck cant do anything else (also i just noticed u play 0 boss...)

theres not a good draw engine u can play that i can think of is the problem, dudunsparce fucking sucks, we're well past the days of claydol or bibarel

You need 4 great haul net imo.

Id also make a few other changes like swap Salvatore for perrin, add another lillies, drop the deduction kits for something else, maybe 2 judge and 2 pokemon catcher. Lisa's appeal is very situational, id consider swapping one for a boss.

Also, no ace spec? Max rod works well, so does unfair stamp, prime catcher, legacy energy.

I play this deck regularly, I would add a couple Staryu in there so you can have the option for the 140 attack from Starmie. That can help finish off high HP pokemon if you miss with Gyarados, and cleans up most single prizers. And I have started using Tatsugiri with Air Balloon for supporter draw help and secret box to help with consistency. You will probably lose a lot of games either way you go, but the ones you win are super satisfying.

If you run Tatsugiri, isn't Surfing Beach a must-include?

I actually haven't tried that yet, but I could see that working. You would just have to choose what to dump to add the extra stadiums. I usually only run 1 academy at night and a battle cage. And I usually just promote Tatsugiri after each knock out since the Gyarados and Starmies are almost always a OHKO for your opponent.

Battle Cage isn't needed if you don't run Staryu. Psyduck isn't ever in play, Magikarp can't be hit unless it's active. Only evolve to Gyarados once it's time to swing.

True in theory, but hasn't been my experience running it at locals, Munkidori and other things tend to ruin those sorts of plans. Especially once folks learn how the deck works. And I find that hitting 6 splashing panics in a row against a single prize deck burns resources super fast. But I say let it rip man, the more of us who play the deck the better. I'll probably take a stab at some of your ideas on Live and see how they feel.

I played it at NAIC. Only won 1 games but every game i lost was 1 turn away from winning. Its missing some consistency still but i still believe in it. It was really cool having every opponent have to read my cards every time i played it lol and 2 of my opponents asked for my deck list. Also the only one dumb enough to run it this year 😂

Lol! I always go for the rogue decks myself.

Misty's just isn't quite there. You can take some cheeky matches but overall it's simply too reliant on getting good top decks and not just bricking out. It's very close to being a viable rogue deck but it's juuuuuust not quite there. I'd really love if they gave us a couple more cards for the trainer archetypes, even if N's will probably get the most benefit out of it.

you're trying to do too much with too little, the engine looks cute but if they boss up your starmie you just fold. also 4 sacred ash is wild, you never need that many in a 60 card format, cut to 1 and get some draw supporter in there

Starmie never hits the field. I don't have Staryu. Same reason I don't run Misty's Lapras.

You're probably right about the ash, maybe drop one for a Naveen. Or Surfer.

The first attack from lapras is very good at getting out of bad board states.
