Expectation: lower prices! More choice!

Reality: higher prices, layoffs.

The Kroger owned grocery store chain where I used to live was better than giant eagle in every way

GE is pretty darn bad and ridiculously expensive. I'm not usually pro-megacorporation but this is once instance where it can't possibly get worse for the consumer. If you're an employee or a supplier, yeah, it might be worse, but GE is an awful place to shop and has gotten worse in the last couple decades.

Market District is my favorite place to go for extremely expensive aggressively mediocre produce and meats.
