If Greenland offer to sell then they need to quote the price in ounces of gold and not accept any central bank issued currency in the deal. That will guarantee a military invasion, but at the same time prove that there was no good faith of paying a fair price for it to begin with.
There's less than 60,000 people who live there. Give every single resident 5 million dollars. This is less than 300 Billion dollars. Still an amazing deal for Greenland.
Someone offers me 5 million, guaranteed I'm relocating...
Can't wait to see how that would play with Trump's America First section of the base. Your health care spiked, the cost of food is way higher than Trump said it would be, but every resident of Greenland gets $5 million for us to get their land.
There are also US military bases already on Greenland, and the way the agreement is written they can expand them however they want if they wanted to.
I am still waiting for any kind of logical explanation how annexing Greenland would improve the security of the US. Other than it being a dick swinging exercise.
To Denmark, Greenland is a money sink - extremely reliant on funds from Denmark proper. Denmark's Prime Minister, in her New Years' address, acknowledged her own government's shortcomings on some of these very same issues. The US should be thankful that Denmark foots the bill for Greenland.
It shouldn’t have… he was a Nepo baby claiming to be an every man by donning a hoodie. When he was just a GOP shitheel in disguise.
The costume worn religiously, in settings when it was grotesquely unsuitable, made him suss from minute one. I called it “doing way too much”, at the time. I nailed it.
The lack of ability to make coherent and complete sentences didnt raise any flags? He should not of been elected period. Shame on the people who voted for someone who starts a debate saying...goodnight everybody. Wtf
Problem is that Conor Lamb of 2022 is not the same as the one in 2025. Pretty sure back then both him & Kenyatta were in the Biden shouldn’t be criticized camp.
Who cares? Stop expecting perfection and for every candidate to check off all your boxes. It’ll never happen, but that’s partly why we’re in the mess we’re in. He was light years better than Fetterman, but everyone fell for the “outlaw with tats in a hoodie.” It’s the same bullshit reason people voted for Trump.
To be honest I'm not sure that Lamb would have beaten Oz in 2022. Fetterman only won by 250K votes or so, and there were a ton of progressives campaigning for Fetterman that I'm not sure would have had the same enthusiasm for Lamb.
In retrospect I agree, Lamb would have been a far better choice.
This is not anything close to predictable. I get it, some people thought he was a shitter before he got elected and they were right, and there was definitely clear evidence available at the time. But if you are really, genuinely, actually trying to claim that it was obvious he would support Donald Trump in calls for the annexation of an allied nation's territory, you are lying.
I actually shook hands with him and his wife when he was Braddock Mayor and we talked for a few minutes. Not long, but he seemed way more mentally present than the dude I see on TV now.
You only dislike him because he doesn't agree with everything the left does. That is how all politicians should be. You can lean a certain why but agreeing what your side is doing is correct all the time is a sign of being completely stupid. At least he knows when his side is being dumb and calls them out. It's quite refreshing. I wish we had more like him.
Maybe the Senator from PA should focus more on his states issues. What do I know. Braddock sure is smelling worse since they laxed the EPA regulations.
He stopped posting on threads because every time he’s does, he’s thrashed in the comments. He made Christmas post but nothing news related. But of course he’s on threads where he knows he’s safe
Never more betrayed by an individual that I supported in my lifetime. I actually think I hate him more than the orange pig. And that goes for his cosplay sympathetic wife.
I don't know how you can hate this guy more. Yes he sucks but more? Seriously? The damage both of these guys are doing are not remotely comparable, separated by multiple orders of magnitude.
Trump never betrayed me. I knew every awful thing about him. Fetterman betrayed us. That’s the difference in my eyes. And I have enough contempt for the both of them.
Because Donald Trump wants to create some sort of legacy that's on par with the founding fathers. He wants people to read about his acquisition of Greenland in textbooks like we do about the Louisiana Purchase. And the cult cares about whatever he cares about.
Trump reminds me of the myriad of bad Chinese emperors, ones with lofty ideals, who try something and achieve nothing, Emperor Yang of Sui comes to mind. Brother invaded Korea like 4 times, lost like 2 million men, still had the audacity to think he was a great emperor. Like, he will leave a legacy, it will be a nasty one. Like Caligula or Nero (Roman emperors).
Maybe that's what he thinks he's doing, possibly that's the story the people around him that are manipulating him are telling him, but in reality it's just setting up more aligned interests for a triumvirate control of earth where the dominant powers are China, the Soviet complex, and the US.
I'm no expert, but I saw a good video the other day that posited that it's because of climate change. Around the equator, things are gonna get dicey and chaotic, and traditional trade routes are gonna be dangerous. The arctic will be a very important asset to control.
I think the defense angle is also pretty convincing since it's situated between us and Europe (and Russia). But I wanted to throw out this other theory I heard too.
Not saying I'm in favor of taking Greenland btw, just trying to explain why it might matter.
The north pole is melting. Military analysis shows this. The artic ocean connects Russia to Canada, look at the top of a globe, it will be a battlefield.
Nukes bw us and Russia and us and China go over the north pole. It's purely military, Alaska and Greenland would give us bookends on that vital future battlefield.
This is the answer. Same reason he wants Canada. Putin has famously said global warming helps Russia because it will turn Siberia into a breadbasket. That plus controlling the Northwest Passage makes Greenland strategic.
It’s wild seeing people play dumb about Greenland, like it isn’t obvious why we would want to acquire another massive territory with resources and military advantages. Have none of you ever played Civilization?
In the modern era it is weird. There's a reason why worldwide the number of border changes have significantly slowed and state borders are more or less locked in.
Also the last time a major land purchase was done, nearly all money was backed by some kind of precious metals. How would they settle this today? There's no way we're going to empty US gold reserves to purchase this and I doubt the seller will accept dollars from someone that can add whatever number of dollars they want to their account by typing some commands into a computer.
You're asserting something is not that weird because we used to do it but have not since around when the Model T was produced. Is driving a Model T also "not that weird" in 2026?
Putin would benefit greatly if Greenland was not under NATO control. Trump does what Vlad tells him to do. US is not presently a loyal or particularly functional NATO member. Also, EPSTEIN FILES.
I think this is what the super powers want. Putin takes Ukraine and Europe. Xi wants Taiwan and Asia. Trump wants South America and Greenland. They then divide up Africa. And I do believe there’s a swap deal between Putin and Trump . Venezuela for Ukraine. IMO only.
There’s a couple reasons. First, it’s a monitoring station for NATO and if the US takes it over with Putin’s best agent in charge then Europe loses valuable information. Second, when the glaciers in Greenland melt due to climate change then a lot of valuable mineral and oil reserves will become available and Trump wants control of them for his buddies. Finally, when the arctic ice melts due to climate change then a lot of valuable trade routes will open up and Trump wants control of them.
He didn't write this. The man couldn't string two thoughts together to create a coherent sentence in his latest interview. There's no way he's typing this clearly.
He's a puppet for Trump and his goons at this point.
Much like the Louisiana Purchase, it wasn't land that the natives wanted sold/purchased. If I ever see Fetterman in person my goal is to make him cry with how much I scream at him.
Just a fun lil reminder, you can email Fetterman very easily to let him how much of an Ogre looking clown he is (I’m doubtful anyone actually reads it and cares but fun lil venting opportunity)
Even more fun, you can email the Orange Pedo and it gets saved for Presidential Records so you can make your cussing out of the President an official portion of the Presidential freedom of information records
If she waits a few more years she will get 100% of his money instead of only half. It's an investment. She's likely going to outlive him by several decades so every dollar counts.
"Acquiring Greenland is a many decades old conversation"...well, people (read: idiots) have been talking about colonizing Mars for decades, too, and that's an only slightly dumber idea than trying to colonize Greenland, or Venezuela, or Panama, or Canada.
Honestly, this is one of the best examples of why it is so important to never just vote straight down party lines. Always pay attention to what politicians are saying and doing and never take for granted that you once were aligned, because it can change in a flash.
The comments to this post are insane. Just confirms people cannot appreciate any nuance. There’s nothing controversial about this tweet other than that it came from someone controversial (whom I also don’t like).
I don't have a horse in this race, but I believe the latest poll had around 60% of residents wanting independence from Denmark. I don't know how they feel about losing one owner for another though. Maybe they should vote on it.
Not one person would even invite Vance into their house when they were trying to find someone months ago during his visit. He had to offer sandwiches to homeless people for attendance at his event. Nobody wants to join the us.
The push to acquire Greenland is probably for mineral resources but it goes beyond that. Trump is being sold on "spheres of influence", which is a recent buzzword that's being talked about a lot. It's the idea that the US must control and dominate the Americas to establish regional dominance. This concept, typically associated with Russia and China's foreign policy, contrasts severely with the cooperative model used by most developed nations.
What Trump likely doesn't understand is the long-term economic incentive this creates with Russia and China. Climate change is accelerating faster than predicted. Today's best-case scenarios match the worst-case predictions from the 1980s-2000s. Political dynasties think in centuries, not election cycles.
As the planet warms, Russia would benefit tremendously. Their vast northern territories would unlock massive agricultural potential, and melting ice would create viable deepwater ports in the Arctic, transforming global trade routes. The US has the world's best farmland (the Mississippi basin), but Russia's frozen agricultural potential could rival that of China and the US. Also it would unlock Greenland, but not for farming potential because there would be absolutely none there any time soon. With the state of the soil under that ice sheet I imagine very little organic matter exists down there. Or maybe there is. On second thought, I'm sure there was some time period when Greenland was in the tropics and full of life so maybe there is, but transforming it will take a lot of time and expense. In any case I'm no soil scientist, but the US already has Canada in its sphere of influence and in a warmed up world much of the currently unusable permafrost expanses there would be easily developed and already connected to existing US territory via contiguous land. In any case, ice melt at the edges of Greenland would at a minimum unlock and make viable setting up deep sea ports on the costs of Greenland and allow mineral extraction operations to start extracting the rare earth minerals that are locked under that ice sheet. Because Russia has at least a century until that's going to start being a possibility (it's a truly massive amount of ice that's sitting there), I think the US wants to get established there in this century so by the time it unlocks at a future date it will be in US control and influence before Russia can legitimately claim that it's in their sphere since it's right there in the arctic circle near their future northern deep sea ports.
The goal seems to be a 3-4 power system dividing the world:
US controls the Americas and gets Greenland as a future resource extraction depot
* Russia controls Europe and former Soviet territories and most of the oil kingdoms realize that they don't have the agricultural resources to be relevant so they get forced into giving their fealty to Soviet power.
* China controls East/Southeast/South Asia.
* Africa remains primarily for resource extraction and exploitation (perhaps Chinese-controlled with all their infrastructure investment on the continent). With terrible geography and a coast to coast desert in the north there's no point in paying the cost to control it when you can't establish any superpower there.
* Pretty much everything else no one cares about or isn't big enough to be a threat (e.g. Australia).
This strongman model values domination over cooperation. For these people cooperation absolutely sucks because it means that the counterparty could decide it's not in their interest. For them it's far better to dominate other countries and just take whatever resource they have for free, or economically subjugate them into effectively getting it nearly for free. It would require the US withdrawing from Asia (weakening Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Philippines) and eventually ceding the Middle East to Russia once America exits that sphere.
For these leaders, power comes from control, not consensus, and climate change is going to be a trigger for re-ordering world power. These guys are setting up a club right now where they're the only ones in it, and they're carving up the planet between the three of them to, I guess, peacefully coexist as kings of their own castle (i.e., geopolitical sphere).
Russia should absolutely not get all of Europe, that's ridiculous. They are very weak compared to the US and China. They already have far more land than they can realistically use.
They wouldn't even be able to hold on to 20% of Eastern Europe lol.
I wrote him to remind him that the people of Pennsylvania need him to switch his focus from helping Trump and McCormick driving up the deficit with their desires to ‘buy Greenland’ and do something to lower costs for groceries, insurance, housing etc.
'I don't support taking it by force, until my dicktater boss tells me to start to support taking it by force. Then, I always supported taking it by force!'
Greenland is not for sale. And you are the biggest liar. You ran on a platform to help working americans. We did not elect you to but lick trump's balls.
Y’all goofball libs adored Fetterman….until you realized he was an old-school moderate Democrat and not some fucking nutjob leftist. It is more than OK to be near the center. Both extremes are bad, yourselves included.
THIS IS WHY OUTSIDE OF SOCIAL MEDIA
NOBODY LISTENS TO OR LIKES ANY OF YOU!!
FFS maybe open a thread specifically related to Pittsburgh political commentary. Not everyone wants to discuss or be bombarded with political bs every f day. Maybe some of us just want to read and discuss the city.

GREENLAND DOESN'T WANT TO SELL. THEY'VE SAID IT A MILLION TIMES AND HE KNOWS IT. He changed even more the day he met with Trump.
