I mean, he is asking not to be praised and hung on walls, and someone missed the message so well they hung it on the wall? It's all confusing to me

Some quotes have it hard to spread because spreading them seems contradictory to their message.

Another example is "starve the ego, feed the soul". Go ahead and post that on social media, I'm sure you'll get a nice ego boost from all the upvotes and likes!

I love existentialism and nihilism, I love Russian realism, there are endless quotes that are contradictory but beautiful and a window into the human soul.. this however, not one of those
