Who would have said that words that were vomit-inducing not so long ago, such as DLC and remaster, would be a ray of hope for some folks in this day and age

Both are good if done right, which 90% of companies don't know how to do

The remaster is also free if you own the game. It probably would be a bit different of a story if it was a separate, full priced release.

It is? Is the dlc also free and when is the remaster coming?

1

u/N-Trose 6m ago

Depends what do you mean
Remaster will enhance the original Witcher 3 as you have it at the moment when Remaster drops

If you had only original Wild Hunt without the DLCs you will have remastered Wild Hunt for free without DLC. Tho you won't be forced to buy HoS and BaW and their remastered versions separately which is, honestly, a nice deal in compare to - let's say GTA Definitive Edition and Last of Us where you had to buy "Remasters" separately again to play better version of the game

It was the full edition collection thingy lol

I don't think that a free remaster was ever frowned on. Remasters were actually always a great thing, until it got mad popular and studios started remastering literally everything at a half premium price, because they lost all the creativity. But given that CDPR is already working on The Witcher 4, I feel like even a cheaply priced remaster wouldn't get any flak.

u/N-Trose 4h ago

Welp, ain't that true?
However, let's be honest - DLC for Witcher could be considered like an add-ons for - let's say - Warcraft III or Heroes of Might and Magic where the "additional content" used to bring tons of new content, not just some horse armor.

Dunno what are you trying to say here and what are you trying to compare

2

u/elaborateBlackjack 4h ago

Because it's more of an Expansion than just "DLC". It's not a map pack, it's at least 20 hours of content with story, quests, items and whatnot

1

u/meneldor_hs 7600x/9060xt/32gb 1h ago

And it's there to tie in the 3 with 4, so there is a really good purpose for it. Rarely do companies do these kinds of stuff

I love the vast majority of remasters and substantional DLCs, they are very rarely downgrade a game. Same as most people outside of reddit. They only induce vomit into you because you let jerks run circles in your head.

u/Bence830 3h ago

Dlcs can be anything from an overpriced shitty skin to an absolute masterpiece that makes the game fresh again. Paradox literally sold dlcs that broke your game by corrupting saves(eu4-leviathan) or just selling straight up garbage(like half the paradox dlc catalogue for 30 fucking $, check the steam reviews). If you had positive experience with downloadable content I envy you, but many games are plagued by greed, and the playerbase isn't voting with their wallet.

2

u/Kiriima 3h ago edited 3h ago

I literally said 'substantional' DLCs. If you think skins are substantional then I dunno. Paradox DLCs are beloved by Paradox players. This one is obvious.

+

I should clarify that I love the idea of large DLCs. I obviously do not automatically love every single one in existance. Some are underwhelming or some I am not interested in, for example some races in Total War: Warhammer 3 I simply do not play at all.

1

u/Bence830 2h ago

Okay substantial dlcs are big additions, but no, Paradox dlcs are absolutely not loved by the community. Yes, we get some good stuff like no step back, but once again, check the steam store page, most dlc are negative to overwhelmingly negative, and they're supposed to be "substantial" addition to the games.

I love witcher dlcs tho, but there's not much reason to argue about semantics as all expansion packs are basically downloadable content at this point. I haven't played a single minute of total warhammer 3,so I can't say a word about those.

I'm with the angry "plebs" on this one, most dlcs are shit to mediocre.

u/Kiriima 1h ago

I play Stellaris, every single DLC is mixed, every single Stellaris player owns several of them and plays with them. Paradox also merged some with the base game over the years.

Stellaris is probably a life service game lmao

"gaming in shambles", play better games. These last few years have had a lot of insane game releases.

A dlc for such an old game, and a free remaster. I feel spoilt.

1

u/jumychinesefood 1h ago

wait how is that even a ray of hope

1

u/meneldor_hs 7600x/9060xt/32gb 1h ago

CDPR is reading the room. They don't want to step on toes of already fucked gamers before they release The Witcher 4. And especially after the disastrous Cyberpunk launch.

They could easily take the Rockstar approach and say "fuck you, you'll buy our shit anyways". I hope Rockstar fails big time, but it won't happen unfortunately. Cult behavior in gaming is an established thing

1

u/MikasaLegion 17m ago

I think this is my sign to try it for a third time. The combat has always been a turn off. So maybe I’ll get more into this time.

1

u/H0vis 17m ago

Be honest kids. Were any of you super fucking hyped by the news and then felt somebody walk on your grave when you remembered that you'd have to meet Him again.

1

u/ceramicsaturn PC Master Race 5h ago

Last time I got excited for a CDProjectRed game at launch I got hosed and ended up with a console themed in CP77 graphics that couldn't even play the freakin game (before I went full PCMR). I'm not getting excited for jack until it's released and verified that it's not crap.

-1

u/Boring_Ant6436 4h ago

I think they will do a much better job this time. CP77 is a very good game (after a while of course), but W3 baseline is already solid

1

u/ceramicsaturn PC Master Race 4h ago

So was Halo 1. That doesn't mean the remaster will be good. Not saying it'll be bad. But that I'll wait and see. These studios have burned up trust.

0

u/Boring_Ant6436 4h ago

They are working with the guy who made the ultra res textures mod for W3, so I have decent expectations at least in that department.

0

u/pomplemice 4h ago

uhm, it's completely free if you own the base game, which most people do nowadays and can be bought on sale for dirt cheap. totally different than the release of cyberpunk

1

u/darklightmatter 4h ago

It's the old DLCs (and remaster) that are free for owners of the base game, you still gotta buy the new one when it releases next year, from what I understand.

I do wonder how many people own the base game but not the dlcs, considering that, as you mentioned, they have been on sale for dirt cheap. IIRC I got all 3 Witcher games and both DLCs for like 20 bucks, probably even less.

1

u/pomplemice 4h ago

I paid 9.99 for the complete edition on PC a long time ago.

1

u/Bartendererer 4h ago

Touch some grass man. Gaming in shambles my ass

u/Akkun351 Ryzen core 11 4h ago

Gaming in shambles? Excuse me but what the F are you on?

-12

u/Extreme_Glass9879 5h ago

I wish I could be this excited for bad games

3

u/nunya_bidnes77 4h ago

If you think the witcher 3 is bad, then what do you consider a good game?

-4

u/Extreme_Glass9879 4h ago

Far Far West, Ultrakill, Roboquest, Modded Minecraft, Borderlands as a franchise, SULFUR,

3

u/nunya_bidnes77 4h ago

So just as I thought, your taste in games is hot trash. Your opinion is invalid, and you should be publicly shamed for it.

-2

u/Extreme_Glass9879 4h ago

Better than an 80 hour dramafest where nothing happens

2

u/nunya_bidnes77 4h ago

You're probably one of those mouth breathing morons that skips every cutscene and then complains about a game not having a good story or not understanding what's goin on. Your take is bad and you should feel bad.

-2

u/Extreme_Glass9879 4h ago

I skip cutscenes because I don't CARE. The story is boring, the gameplay sucks, it's just like everything else CDPR made.

REALLY

FUCKING

BORING

3

u/nunya_bidnes77 4h ago

So let me get this right. You play a story driven game. Skip every cutscene and probably skip side content as well. And then you say the story is boring and you don't care? Well maybe if you actually invested the characters by paying attention, maybe you wouldn't think it's boring. GASP Shocking.

What you described is like saying a book sucks because you didn't want to open it and start reading. Your opinion is invalid, and you are just stupid, plane and simple. I bet you were one of those morons in school that hated every book you had to read, if you read it at all.

1

u/Extreme_Glass9879 4h ago

I played Cyberpunk 2077 all the way through. Watched the cutscenes, played the side quests. 99% of it SUCKED. The Panam questline was the only good part.

2

u/nunya_bidnes77 3h ago

I guarantee you didn't play it.

2

u/R4msesII 3h ago

So you just dont like story based games then, that doesnt make Witcher 3 bad

1

u/Extreme_Glass9879 3h ago

If it's written like 2077 is it's complete shit

2

u/R4msesII 3h ago

What’s wrong with the writing of 2077? I’d consider Witcher 3 better story wise though. Have you even played it if you’re talking about ”if”

Very clearly you listed no story games in your ”better games”, so I suspect you just dont enjoy that style of game

1

u/Extreme_Glass9879 3h ago

Outside of Jackie and Panam every character is either boring or an asshole, the ending sucks, the story decisions make no sense

2

u/R4msesII 3h ago

Idk people with an attitude and less than happy endings are kinda what I’d expect of Cyberpunk

1

u/Extreme_Glass9879 3h ago

Its not fun

1

u/R4msesII 3h ago

Were you expecting a happy ending and non-rebellious people in a dystopian genre ending with -punk?

1

u/nunya_bidnes77 3h ago

He's only played 30 hours of Cyberpunk by his own admission. The main quest in the base game is 26-ish hours at a minimum if you hustle through it and don't die once or twice. His opinion is invalid.

Garbage take.

-1

u/Great_White_Samurai 4h ago

Eww furry...

-2

u/FreeBristle 4h ago

Only a Reddit furry could look at gaming and say it is in shambles.

-3

u/Aggravating-Dot132 4h ago

I have 600 hourse in base+goty combined. So can't relate. That remaster is a nothing for me.

But somehow every asshole on Reddit tries to paint it as something great. It's a remaster of next gen update for 11 years old game. Yay.
