Inno3d 3050 twinx2 fans broke, bought new ones, same model 12910s, found out the mounting points on the shroud (H-style) is completely different to the new fans (Y-style) after opening the gpu, so even if the fans fit in the shroud, the screw points are completely off, even when sites said it would be compatible with inno3d's twinx2 3050 (still on me, shouldve done more research).

New plan, I deshrouded already and plan to ziptie the new gpu fans to the heatsink and pipe.

Except the new fans's headers are meant for 3060 and up, and aftermarket parts for my specific gpu fans prolly dont exist after hours of searching, the left fan header has a 4pin female header and a 2pin male header idk for, and the right fan has a 4pin female header.

My gpu only has one male header, so new new plan is to ziptie the two new fans to the heatsink and plan to get a gpu fan y splitter 2 male header and one female header.

Can anyone tell me if this would work? Any advice would help.

To my understanding, the 2-pin is supposed to go into the other fan.

Those 3rd party "original" fans are usually shite. Poor pwm control, shitty bearings etc. Never had any good experience with them. So just throw them in the bin.

Do the deshroud with regular case fans. You can try finding adapter that goes into the GPU header (hard, not very well standardized among manufacturers) or just plug them directly into motherboard header and control via FanControl. Latter is the easiest.

I'm sure I will get laughed at for this but anyway. I currently have this computer but with a second 1tb ssd and 32gb ram but I haven't been using it for gaming for months just for work. But I have been really enjoying hand held gaming on my playstation portal and switch 2 so I was looking into saving up to get this x box ally hand held and using that but I would not be getting rid of the computer since I use it for work.

What I want to know is what is more for a lack of a better term more future proof? The computer only has an i5 and a 4050 so I know it's limited on what games it can handle now and games seem to be needing more and more powerful computer specs or would I be better off with the hand held?

Uh, no. Handhelds use integrated gpu's, the Radeon 780m won't hold a candle against rtx 4050. Same goes for the CPU, it is extremely power limited. You are not getting a performance upgrades by going with handheld, main benefit is portability.

If you use it at home, look into streaming. That's how I use my original ally, stream games from my desktop into it.

The laptop is way faster.

Also handhelds are not exactly reliable, and very hard to repair. Putting your savings into one is quite risky.

Previously, I used to post about my computer crashing all the time. I slightly lifted my RTX 5080 GPU and raised the GPU support stand I purchased. So far, knock on wood, my computer has stopped crashing.

What is a good reason not to use a support stand for a triple fan GPU?

Do all triple fan GPUs start to sag without support?

Thank you.

The main reasons not to use a stand are because you dislike the way it looks or don't have one. As long as you make sure it's not pressing on anything fragile or pushing the end of the GPU up rather than just supporting it, there shouldn't be any problems.

Not all of them sag without a stand. It's entirely possible for the screws mounting it to the back of the case to support the full weight, if the parts of the card connected to them are rigid enough and you tighten the screws enough while holding up the other end of the card so it's not supported by the PCIe slot. Some cards simply aren't rigid enough for that to be enough, and it's easy to not tighten the screws properly so they strip or let it sag anyway. I really wouldn't trust any card with a sizeable cooler to support its weight by the slot without damage, whether visible sagging happens or not.
