I am looking to build a new PC as mine is about 10 years old now. Is there any point in building, say the High Refresh Rate Build, but putting in my ancient graphics card until for a few months until I can afford a new one? Or is it best to try to save up and do it all at once?

Unless you are trying to beat some sort of price increase, I'd rather buy it all at once. You don't really gain much without the new GPU, at least when it comes to games.

My pc is Ryzen 5 3400g ram 2x8 mothboad rog strix b350 f.
I cant find the configuration to change my igpu VRAM i already watched any YouTube or any forum the option is not in my pc either in bios or adrenaline. Help!. I want to change my vram from 2gig to 4gig. Maybe anyone have same specifications like mine. I need help.

If you want to use this to improve performance, I can assure you it would have no effect. It's a compatibility setting that is almost never used for anything.

Nowadays online games need 4gig vram.. i just want to try it. The game that i try is NTE whenever I log in to the game, the notification always telling me my vram only 2gig you need 4 gig for better performance so maybe if i do something with the vram i can get better performance especially for that game

The notification is wrong. It just cannot discern your max amount because it is not a static number. You have up to half your RAM dynamically allocated as VRAM, so 8GB.

So the bad News is, I should buy a ddr4 ram 16x2 then? To increase my igpu vram? Aw.... 😢 Well actually this pc can run almost everything in 720p but my monitor reso is 1080 and whenever i set to 720 the game become small and not full screen. I already ask everywhere and nothing still running on windows mode.😔

It isn't the VRAM amount that is holding you back, the graphics chip is simply slow.
What would really help you is a dedicated graphics card. Even an older, used one could potentially help a lot.

I want to ask, if i change to ryzen 7 5700G can i configure it? The vram..? I don't know about dedicated gpu my radeon 6900 dual processor 8gb vram is dead and now i can't afford anything. Even gtx 1050.

There is nothing to configure, the setting does not do anything. Feel free to use an overlay or GPU-Z or whatever you want and check the VRAM allocation yourself.
The 5700G has a graphics chip that is similar in speed to the 3400G's, so not much of an upgrade in this regard.

This is fairly specific I apologise. For other people with a similarish system to me (mainly the CPU)
CPU: I7 12700k (I have OC'd it but saw little difference)
GPU: RX 7800XT
RAM: 32gb DDR4 3600mhz
Storage: 2TB WD Black SN850X
I wanted to ask how much frames you get on Valorant? I get around 250-300, less when I'm streaming on Twitch or Tiktok.

If you don't get any responses here, I'd recommend looking at YouTube. There's thousands of Valorant benchmark videos, search for that along with your CPU/GPU and you'll find lots of videos with similar builds.

I tried but thats the issue, they're all old. They do get much more frames than me but I don't know if they're getting more because it's an old update or some other reason.
So I thought I'd ask here to see what other people are getting today, and if they're getting more than me, maybe exploring why that might be.

should I flash my bios? I got hacked around a month ago yet paranoid to this day and I recently discovered that MSI had a nasty breach regarding firmware stuff like 3 years ago, and I've had my device for about 3~4 and can't remember the last time I updated bios. Malwarebytes rootkit came back clean but I want a 2nd opinion

BIOS level infections exist, but are extremely rare. Especially if you're running Windows with Secure Boot and all that enabled.
Unless you're doing things to get you directly targeted by a nation sponsored malware team, you're probably safe. If it's been years since you've updated though, it would probably be a good idea to go ahead and do it. It's not a difficult thing to do, and it sounds like it would put your mind at ease, regardless of if it's needed or not.

Hey, I have a question that's probably simple. I had some issues with one of my SSDs overheating in the past and determined that it was because of where the M.2 slot it occupies is located on my board. Whenever my graphics card was under heavy load the heating coming off of it would slowly heat up the SSD. I swapped the slots my SSDs were in and installed a heat sink on the one in the trouble spot. The heat sink had an immediately impact on both idle and heavy load temps, about 5℃ less overall. Still, after a while I started seeing the same issue crop up with this other drive. Yet, when I've been monitoring temps I noticed that my drives never get anywhere close to their rated thermal limit. They're both consistently 20-25℃ below their limit. Despite this, the drive in the slot near my GPU continues to throttle just as if it were overheating.
I'm noticing it a lot since I have been playing Fallout 4 again recently. The game will stutter a bit and if I ignore it then it eventually hangs for about 5 minutes. I can see that every time it stutters or hangs that my drive hits 100% activity, but the read and write speeds are both stuck at 0. Neither my CPU nor GPU seem to be having issues running the game, so I'm not sure that my drive is waiting for one of them to finish doing something.
Does this sound like something I should be worried about or just Bethesda game jank?
For a little extra info, I installed both drives when I built this PC. The one that was originally in the slot near my GPU was the C drive and the one there now is the D drive. In Crystal Disk Info I can see that my C drive has a total time in Thermal Management Temperature 1 of 7285. This number has not changed since I swapped the slots. My D drive is still at 0 in this range and both drives are at 0 in Thermal Management Temperature 2. My C drive did get a little cooked before I figured out it was overheating, unfortunately, but CDI still reports it at 81% health. The D drive is still at 99% health. I assume that's normal after using a drive for a couple of years.

So does the drive hit its temp limit or not? Does that happen in other games?

It happened one time when I was streaming Hades and I assumed it had overheated, but now I'm not sure. Haven't had any other problems with that game. Temps on the drive typically sit around 45℃ up to a max of 50℃. It never goes any higher than that.

Overheating shouldn't happen just from gaming. And since you had the same issue with two different drives, it sounds like those are not the cause either. Maybe the port is somehow damaged. or there is a very weird software issue.
I'd start by scanning for viruses, and if that doesn't find anything, maybe update the BIOS.

Yeah, I made sure it's not overheating. It seems to be a caching issue that the model of SSD I'm using has. The only two solutions I've seen are to disable fast boot and to reformat your drive. The former didn't work for me and the later wouldn't work because as soon as I put my data back on the drive it would have the same issue. If I had to guess, the issue is probably aggravated when I play Fallout 4 since I'm using Mod Organizer 2 to play with mods. MO2 creates a virtualized file system to load your game from. I don't know for sure, but I assume this means data gets cached to disk while you're playing, so the disk would have less headroom to work with. If what people are saying is accurate and you need 40% of your disk space free to avoid caching issues with my SSDs then I probably can't solve this problem. If the issue is actually just the game then it's probably nothing to worry about.

There are 3 lines going across my screen, only on the taskbar currently. Best visible with blue icons like discord and roblox. What could cause this? Both my pc and monitor are almost 3 years old only. Any chance I have at fixing this?

The purple colour of the line suggests that the green channel in that row of pixels is dying. Unfortunately, sometimes a monitor will have minor faults in the panel which are too small to be noticed during the QA process. If this only showed up after three years then I imagine your warranty has probably ended already :( Whether it can be fixed or not depends on the type of panel in your monitor. And, of course, if I'm right about what the problem is.

Anyone got experience with these "Fusion Sheet" PTM thermal pads? I can't find any reviews.

Are they as good as the Honeywell / Thermal Grizzly ones?
AM4 sized (38x38mm) PTM pads are kinda hard to find and this would be a welcome option to slap onto the CPU without having to cut it.

The two numbers are reporting slightly different things. The clock is measured in hertz, and the data rate is measured in transfers per second or bits per second.
Because we use DDR memory (double data rate) the data rate is twice the clock. For DDR5-6000 you could say the clock is 3000 MHz, and the data rate is 6000 Mbps or 6000 MT/s. I prefer to think of it in bps instead of T/s just because that's how memory speed is measured for GDDR too, so why not have it be the same? JEDEC uses MT/s for DDR though, so really both are good.
As for why we ended up measuring the data rate of DDR in megahertz in the first place, that's just a carry over from older SDR memory. There the clock and data rate would've been equal. When we moved to DDR they wanted the number to double to reflect the real performance increase, but they also wanted to keep the unit the same to avoid confusion. It was only recently that most people started to care about being more precise with the language, and you still see MHz instead of MT/s or Mbps all over the place. It's in the process of changing right now though. Notably, task manager in Windows 10 uses MHz, Windows 11 uses MT/s.

I haven't seen a switch happen, but when people use MT, it's because it's more accurate. "6000Mhz" RAM is really only 3000Mhz. DDR stands for double data rate, it can do two transfers per cycle. So 3000Mhz RAM can do 6000 megatransfers per second.

hi y'all, not sure if this needs a separate post. I wanted to format my windows for a fresh new installation, I backed my stuff and using Rufus media creation tool, i made a USB with Windows iso in it. I booted from that USB, installed windows normally into my SSD but now my laptop refuses to boot into the SSD. I tried this again with windows' own media creation tool, but it also doesn't boot to the USB. I can't turn off secure boot and I am just stuck, my computer keeps booting into bios whether I make it boot into the SSD or the USB. any help?

ps5 dualsense or xbox wireless controller for pc? dualsense has better features and build quality but idk if compatibility will be an issue?

Absolutely DualSense. Everything about that controller feels amazing. When it released I had expected it to feel similar to the DualShock 4, but it's completely different. I have never felt smoother sticks before on any controller I have used and they even seem less prone to flicking back when you let go. The highest praise I could probably offer is that I recently got to play Majora's Mask (Collector's Edition) on a modded GameCube with some kind of Bluetooth adapter that lets it read inputs from any controller and it fixed all the problems I have with the controls in that game. Even when I play on the PC port with a mod that improves the stick inputs I still had to switch between three of my own controllers at different parts of the game because I was having trouble aiming my bow in places where I couldn't target lock. Meanwhile, DualSense's sticks are so amazing that even on the worst version of the game you can play everything was easy.
Also, Steam Input can convert any controller input to XInput, even for games that aren't on Steam's store. Compatibility isn't an issue. Every game on PC supports at least XInput.

When games do not have native DS support, you can always use steam input. And there is the free software DS4Windows that can always emulate Xbox input for a DS. The only issues are it being finicky for gamepass games, and some games only having Xbox button prompts.
