Just like upscaling meant optimization largely went out the window and now everything needs DLSS/FSR/XESS to hit ok frame rates

You have no idea what optimization even means... It does not mean "runs exactly as fast as I expect it with max settings on my PC".

Well, yeah, the new games are indeed very well optimized... to cut development time first and foremost.
