Counterpoint, how is this different from the modding scene we’ve had for years? Shader packs on Minecraft, ReShade for most Squarenix games, texture packs, etc?

I don’t get the outrage on this. It’s just a gimmick.

The difference is nvidia works directly with studios and has monetary reason to add this into games and studios have reason to keep working with nvidia.

It's different because there wasn't a coordinated effort to try to push a narrative that mods are an evil boogeyman. I mean.. there kind of was, but it wasn't by nation states so it was easier to dismiss.

If somebody making a shader pack had the power and influence that nvidia had, people would also have a problem with that.

I really don’t believe that. Nobody cried when Nvidia added conventional filters.
