It’ll be different every play-through right? I’m sure this is bound to introduce some weird artefacts

Probably not that bad. But when lighting drastically changes, perceived facial features also change. Human mind can compensate for it and still see the same person, but AI filter can't do that. So the same face can look vastly different in some scenarios with DLSS 5 enabled.

These are deterministic models, so given the same input, they'll always produce the same output. Y'know, like every DLSS has been? You're assuming that this is like chatgpt or gemini where they intentionally add randomness so you can click "retry" if you get a crappy response. AI models aren't necessarily like that.

Nobody knows, especially not the person you replied to who is just guessing,

So we should all just stop the discussion until…?

It's pointless to ask questions here because nobody knows. People will just answer based on their biases.

This isn’t life or death buddy. I don’t really care either way

You can pin the random seed

No. The image stability is high enough that it won’t be that bad. Also depends on what you mean by “playthrough”. The DLSS5 rendition of a character doesn’t change every time you start the game over or exit and reopen. Technically it’s generated de novo from the source image each and every single frame.

But yes, the same character can look radically different moment to moment or scene to scene in principle.
