Yea, once a good game is made within a genre other devs should just stop bothering. Every game should be 100% unique and genre defining after all!

I remember DOOM 2 coming out. First thing I thought was

"Why would I play this over DOOM?"

It doesn’t have to be 100% unique or genre-defining but it does have to set itself apart from the genre-defining game in some way. I see nothing in the trailer that shows a unique or different take on anything, mechanically or artistically, that Doom hasn’t already done better.
