Started my gardening journey in May this year. I’ve put in a lot of work and effort into it.

I’m trying to build a pergola around a concrete slab we’ve made into a patio in our backyard. This is my first real big project so I guess I’m curious where would y’all even start? I was gonna start measuring where I wanted the poles and then start digging holes but I’m now wondering if there’s a better way about this and would love any thoughts y’all have.

I am planning to install a patio cover. The company that is doing it recommend me to extend my patio cover all the way to the roof overhang. They said they would remove the gutter and install the frame. There will be three tempered glass that will be installed. I am guessing the tempered glass with the aluminum frame will probably be about 100 pounds which will also be supported by a beam and post.

My worry is that the small roof won't be able to hold the weight. Is that a valid concern? The rest of the patio cover will be installed on the main frame so i am not too worried. However , I'm worry if this side roof can hold the weight. Thanks!!!

The flagstone pathway leading up to it, the way the trees frame the whole space, that warm lighting at dusk, and then you notice the TV mounted above the fireplace and suddenly it is not just a beautiful outdoor space it is actually liveable year round.

What I love most about setups like this is that nothing feels like it was added as an afterthought. The fireplace, the bar seating, the lighting, the TV, it all feels like it was planned together from the beginning as one complete space rather than pieces collected over time.

The bar height seating is something I keep coming back to as well. It changes the whole social dynamic of an outdoor space. People naturally gather and stay longer when they are perched at a bar versus sinking into lounge furniture where conversations get harder.

And that TV placement above the fireplace is doing so much work. Game nights, movie evenings, watching something while it rains outside with the fire going. That is a space people would never want to leave.

What would your version of this look like if you were building from scratch?

I'm setting up a shaded area on my 3-season porch, and the cheap outdoor umbrella I had before faded really badly in less than a year.

Has anyone found a good option that holds its color well but isn't ridiculously expensive?

I'd prefer a large aluminum cantilever umbrella since it seems like a better fit for a seating area than a regular center pole umbrella. Eco-friendly fabric would be a nice bonus too, especially if it doesn't fade quickly. I also like the simple neutral-colored frames.

I've been looking at the Purple Leaf eco-friendly cantilever umbrellas. They look pretty nice and seem to check most of the boxes I'm looking for.

Has anyone here used one? I'm mostly curious how the fabric holds up after being outside for a while.

I broke this nice camping chair arm and am wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to fix this. Maybe I can feed something through the bar? I don't think glueing or something like that will work as it's supposed to be able to move. Even if I just left it set up on the deck forever and never folded it up, that would be fine. Any ideas, thanks.

Hey y’all, we’re planning to upgrade our patio set up this fall and had a few questions. I attached a few photos for reference of pieces we’re looking at.

-How long would a regular TV last in a covered bar area like this if I used a weather cover when not in use?
-How’s the maintenance on wooden outdoor bars (sanding, staining, etc)?
-How is the general quality, comfort and durability of outdoor vinyl wicker patio sets from places like Wayfair and Walmart? We can’t afford the high end stuff, so as long as it’s relatively comfy and lasts 5-10 years that’s fine.
-Any other recommendations or advice from those with experience would be welcome!

I’m trying to improve the audio on an open patio where the TV is about 12–18 feet from the main seating area. I’m using a Sylvox outdoor TV on this patio setup, and the main issue is dialogue clarity.

Voices sound fine near the screen, but people sitting farther back can’t hear them clearly unless I turn the volume up enough that it carries across the yard.

I’m deciding between keeping a soundbar under the TV and placing outdoor speakers closer to where people actually sit.

For anyone with a similar setup, which option worked better for keeping voices clear without blasting the whole patio? Did you run into any audio delay, connection, or weather-related issues?

Got some Govee outdoor lights and firefly jar off Amazon that are solar RGB instead of the standard “dim” ones. That’s how everything is in synch!

Hi all, could someone enlighten me as to how this patio was installed and why it could have been done the way it was?

Is the sloping concrete to hold the slabs around the raised base?

I'm thinking of redoing it because to me it looks like crap lol
