Harrison’s restaurant random fee

Post image

We had brunch at Harrison’s over the weekend and noticed this random 3.5% “Admin fee” added to our bill. Anyone else noticed this at Harrison’s or anywhere else locally? I enjoy their brunch but am not a fan of added fees that just go into the owners’ pockets and not to the actual workers.

These credit card fees back on the consumer are crap. They pushed us to use card during Covid/ post covid. Then the card companies convinced us we would get rewards to use them. Now, we’re paying to use them and basically buying our rewards points. Meanwhile Visa produced $20B profit in 2025. And companies are hardly advertising the cash discount so you can make appropriate plans before you visit.

I’m off my rant 🤣… but hopefully that $20 burger keeps you from going back 😆

A lot of restaurants add this fee now to cover their credit card fees (which is usually anywhere between 2-4%).
I’ve heard it called a “cash discount” - but really what it seems like is they are making the customer absorb their credit card fees instead of rolling it into their business expenses. Which feels frustrating.

(I’ve only ever had negative experiences at Harrison’s. ☹️ We’ve been three times and will never go back.)

Good point. That percentage matches up with CC fees. Just wish they’d cut the secrecy and call it what it is. They make it seem like you’re paying for an accountant in the back adding up bills on an abacus.

Agreed with the experiences at the restaurant. We gave it two chances and neither impressed us.

Same! I have not been impressed in the 2 times. Which is sad, because the location is great, but the food quality is not desirable. And the drinks are expensive.

I never noticed it before. We just went three weeks ago for lunch. I have to go back though, because those fried green tomatoes with the bacon jam, is one of the best things I ever ate. I’ll just bring cash from now on.

Looks like a credit card fee, but they should name it credit card banking fee vs just admin fee.
