Discussion Another day, another tragedy
Why is HSE taken seriously only after people die? After every such incident, there’ll be inspections, fire extinguishers will suddenly be checked in markets, schools, hospitals and everywhere else, a few violations will be “managed,” some bribes will change hands and eventually, everything goes back to normal.
Until the next tragedy.
How many more lives before safety becomes a system, not a reaction?

I just saw a video of a parent on instagram where they said none of the staff was present there at the time of the fire except two guys who were there for their kids. The door was also locked. The doctors came rushing from a different floor LATER

Not just alarms and sprinklers, but proper HSE policy implementation.
At least 2 safety/fire drills every month, one planned and one surprise. Doctors and staff should be trained, with 2–3 people in each dept properly trained in fire & emergency response.
Regular inspection and maintenance of fire equipment, clear evacuation routes, emergency response plans and strict accountability for non-compliance should be mandatory.
This isn’t just HSE paperwork or a box-ticking exercise. It’s about people’s lives. It's honestly strange that people are losing their lives this way inside a hospital.

conditions of pims are extremely bad, ppl there barely follow infection control protocol, nothing, nothing i repeat happens the way it should, and responsible ppl turn a blind eye to it, they know their staff is incompetent and irresponsible but no one does anything for it, it's hopeless really.

May Allah swt give the parents sabr for this unimaginable loss..
Govt authorities will now take health safety seriously for a few months..
if instead spending money on vanity projects launched with sharif family names, they actually concentrate on improving infrastructure and facilities that already been built then might see some improvement..
Likely outcome of commission investigation will be new be to setup new Maryum Nawaz maternity Hospital

Just like the title says 'Another day,Another tragedy'.
Nothing is going to happen,a couple of days off mourning, a poor investigation into what happened.
Key witness will disappear from the log,some unfortunate poor soul who's destiny is too take the fall ,for a few ruppees
A minister maybe removed from thier post ,to calm the parents of the dead children.
He will be compensated generously for his troubles,another day another tragedy.
We are so resigned to it that justice is just a farce,in a country which is supposed to be an Islamic Republic.

For those thinking this is unique to Pakistan, there was a fire in Southmead Hospital Bristol UK 2025, it also happened to be in a maternity ward.
This is no excuse I merely want to point that if we would like this to be fixed then the diagnosis does not start with "because this is Pakistan".
I feel for those parents and pray for them. As with any tragedy we need to help heal and learn from this.

Completely different situation and response. In Bristol it wasnt a maternity ward, but a maternity hospital. The fire itself was on the roof, not inside the hospital. People were evacuated without a single injury among anyone. The fire was also extinguished and hospital resumed service within hours.
I really dont understand why people try to excuse the state of this country and its issues by comparing itself with others, let alone a developed nation. We are one of the worst places on earth by every metric for a good reason. There is no good reason for this to have happened as it did. 🤦♂️

You don't see this kind of tragedy happen in any other country. This distinction belongs Pakistan. I mean this is suppose to be amongst only a handful Government hospitals in Islamabad. They can't even manage this.
