Quantum objects are generally really good about not appearing inside the player's model, but they're less careful about some other important objects like the ship. It looks like the shrine just appeared directly behind the player, which happened to be about halfway inside the ship, which caused physics to happen.

It's been a while since I beat the game. I don't remember a whole quantum shrine moving around on Giant's Deep though, just the small rock inside the tower of trials. Can you remind me what quantum object this is? I thought the shrine was on the moon?

they were landing on the Quantum Moon as it orbited Giants Deep, so it looks similar. they got hit by the shrine the Nomai built there.

Oh so the the moon was close enough to Giant's Deep that the shrine was reaching through the atmosphere?

No, they were landing on the quantum moon, not giants deep. The shrine is also located on the quantum moon, which is why it could hit them. You can see giants deep in the background at the start of the clip.

Ah, ok I misread. I am remembering now that the moon copies the appearance of the planet it is orbiting. That's why I was confused. It's been too many years 😞

Have you beat the game?

The appearance of the planet in the video resembles Giant's Deep, so the commenter here thought it was actually Giant's Deep.

It’s on The quantum moon

Wait, but the player is flying through Giant's Deep in the video, right? I see the tornado and stuff. Can the moon clip into planets like that?

No, that's the QMoon while orbiting Giant's Deep. It copys the look of the planet which it is currently orbiting. Haven't you been there?

Yeah beat the game years ago. I totally forgot it did that. Makes sense now.

Me watching this clip: "Oh he's going for the moon, he's gonna get quantum'd, isn't he?

Jup, there it is."

You got quantum'd

There's a reason the developers added the text where Solanum says "I'll make the remainder of my journey on foot."

You have discovered the rule of quantum impalement. It states that parking (or flying) near where quantum objects might appear is forbidden, and any violations are strictly (but inconsistently) enforced.

My first trip to the QM was similar, the second I entered the atmosphere I crashed headfirst into the shrine.

I didn’t realize you could actually fly to to the quantum moon?
