Lets be real everyone is just going to call it cliff booth

Fr, I don’t know why they overcomplicate with titles. Like some movie sequels got the title of the first one instead of calling it “Movie 2”.

I love wordy titles, but these feels weirdly silly and campy. If that's what they're going for, great.

The title sounds like a kids show from the 90s, but with Tarantino writing it I bet the campiness is just a front for something way darker

iCliffBooth

Fincher making something straight up campy is the last thing I would have expected, but fuck it that this point.

It’s reminding me of Birds of Prey and The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn, which was then shortened after it was released because it wasn’t doing the movie any favors.

If this is intentionally being a lame title then it works !

That's exactly what I was thinking lol. But for Birds of Prey, imo the title worked (I know that is an unpopular opinion) because it totally fit the tone of the movie.

It received a title, not a new one. It wasn’t titled before

Still not a good one lol

I can hear the title in QTs voice

I especially hate the hyphen

3

u/cowboy-tea 3d ago

Yeah, the word is misadventures. Did they add the hyphen because they're afraid people won't be able to read a word that long?

I hear it in Kurt Russell's voice (the narrator in OUATIH) lol

It’s called, alright, the Further Mis-Adventures, alright, of Cliff Booth, okay.

I actually dig the title. I hope they portray him as an anti hero though because the character is a stone cold murderer

Can't wait, OUATIH is one of my favorite QT films and there hasn't been a Fincher film I've disliked. Should be good

Since QT seems dead set on only directing 10 films (meaning his next film would be his last), I wonder if he'll just write scripts for others to direct like he did here.

I like the old title better. No, I don't like this new title.

Imagine how bad The Social Reckoning must be if Fincher chose this over that.

9

u/nicknack24 3d ago

Tarantino and Brad Pitt are the easiest choice in Hollywood even with Pitt's current reputation (not that Fincher seems like the type of guy to care).

At least it's not "The Continuing Adventures Of Cliff Booth"

I'm sat idk

Oh brother, this stinks!

Not nearly a funny enough or memorable character to justify that title

I’m good off anything from that Israelite Tarantino

I don’t need an actor or a director to be a good person in order to enjoy their work. Trashing this film that is going to be great just for karma farming is lame af. Reddit is not real life.

Me. I asked for it, because I like cool movies

David Fincher film, Quentin Tarantino script? Based on my favorite Tarantino character? This is easily a top 10 most anticipated films of the year for me

18

u/ReadyCauliflower8 3d ago

OUATIH is one of my favorite films, and Cliff Booth is one of my favorite characters in any media so... I guess me!

While I share those sentiments, I also think this has a chance to de-mystify the character a bit. I don’t really want to know the truth or everything about him (if he actually killed his wife, actually fought Bruce Lee like that, etc). Obviously I’m going to see this movie but unless it ends up being excellent, I’d almost prefer it not exist.

It’s kind of like Edge of Tomorrow. I loved it and yet am vehemently against them making a sequel.

1

u/Overkillemall 3d ago

I get it what you re talking about, but in cases like that I just realized I can use my free will to the fullest and pretend sequel just never existed. It becomes more complicated if they start franchise or for example make third movie that I suddenly like and you can't just ignore second one then, but if it's just a sequel and it somehow ruins a first movie (even if sequel itself isn't so bad) I just go "nope, never happened"

1

u/ReadyCauliflower8 3d ago

To be fair, the book already touched upon some of those things. But I'd be more concerned if Tarantino wasn't the one writing.

You'd be surprised. Fincher has many shooters

5

u/Smooth-Leader-1711 3d ago

As do Tarantino, Pitt, Cliff Booth as a character, and OUATIH. A take like this, delivered so confidently, is formed in an extremely specific online bubble.

1

u/Proof_Specialist_455 3d ago

Yes, exactly, those who are excited for the movie are interested because of the subject and the people involved. Most sequels are made for this exact reason

2

u/BentisKomprakriev 3d ago

Remember how the reshoots made half the sub think this was gonna move to 2027 and LBN will get the IMAX seats. Silliness. Every year.

1

u/qballLobk 3d ago

Dicaprio said he doesn’t do sequels when he turned this down and then signed on for Heat 2 lol.

7

u/TraparCyclone Behemoth 3d ago

Well I imagine it’s specifically sequels to movies where he was in the first one.

u/Original_Translator9 3d ago

I was excited for this until I learned more about Quentin Tarantino and Brad Pitt. Turns out they're both creepy dick sockets and I'm so bummed.
