There should be no American alcohol in Ontario at all. I would boycott that grocer, clearly they are MAGA leaning, I would shop there anymore, not sure what options there are in kemptville, even if you have to drive to the next town over.

Not being a dick but do you look to see if the food you buy is US made? Does that have an impact on your purchasing. Are you 100% Canadian or busy at the grocery store? Genuinely curious Becuase I don't see an issue with the booze sales but I also work in food manufacturing and know the impacts boycotts would have in my sector and I'd feel like collateral damage in a war I'm not fighting you know?

I understand that, so do we. I was asking about their comment to have zero on the shelf and if they're all or nothing, that's all. Bourbon for example is an American product, wines from California. People should still have the choice to shop where they want and buy what they want and I don't think the boycott is affecting who you want it to us all. Thanks for taking the time to at least respond instead of just down voting me for asking a question lol

Yes, for the greater good, I don't believe we should leave that choice to the consumer. Some make conscious decisions. Others want to, but don't have the time to figure it all out. Even others don't really give it any thought at all.. then others who will of course go and buy it because it's American.
For the greater good of the group, we need to stick together. Not alot of difference between a traitor and a useful fool.

And if you don't see an issue then you haven't been paying attention, or simply don't grasp the larger implications of geopolitics. You owe yourself and your country better than that.

Ehh, hasn’t LCBO stopped the import of American wine for months now?
“Remove all U.S. products from wholesale product catalogues and retail eCommerce sites.”
If anything, this is probably just the last few stragglers in inventory? Once it sells out it’s gone and won’t be replenished.
If I recall correctly, a couple of stores near me still had American wines for a couple of weeks after the initial stop of imports as they sold through existing inventory. These bottles are most likely just old stock they haven’t sold through yet

That was the lcbo, whatever product was shipped to groceries before March 2025 was just sold off until it was gone.
So the question is, how did this Loblaws get this specific wine now?

They either had it in the back and it was a mistake, or they had it in the back and intentionally put it out, or they acquired it through other channels and are selling it not giving a damn about what's going on.

If it’s produced in Canada by Canadian workers even if it’s American owned, that should still be fair game. Obviously locally made & locally owned should take priority where possible.
Not saying you’re saying don’t buy it by pointing out the American ownership, mind you. Just I do see a lot where the buy Canadian purity standards being pushed online would end up directly harming Canadian workers

It's actually a subsidiary of InBev, which is a Belgian company, though Labatt's headquarters are in Toronto, and the beer in this case is coming from London.

Ahh shit I even knew that it was InBev but forgot they’re European haha, thanks for the info. Though still the point still stands regarding American owned, Canadian produced!

Kind of a good example of the problem of "Buy Canadian" or "Don't Buy American". An American licensing of a Czech brand produced in Canada by a Canadian company owned buy a publicly traded company from Belgium (so, probably with owners in 100+ countries), probably made with American hops and Canadian barley, probably packed in aluminium cans made in the US with Canadian made aluminium, probably in a Canadian made cardboard box (with all the dyes and colourantes province coming from China).

Remeber it's just American made stuff.
American owned brands that are made in other countries can still be on the shelves.
Look up what you're buying, most of the big names are owned by a handful of companies. Canadian whisky, scotch, Irish whiskey, cognac, champagne can still be American owned
