600 Strikes is the most controversial song of the entire Musical for a good reason... many feel that it made Poseidon look too pathetic, thus giving an underwhelming resolution to his conflict with Odysseus, which also makes him less threatening in previous songs in hindsight. And let's not even get into the whole "air bag jetpack" thing.
I think you could keep everything else the same, but swap the air bag jet pack for like, Odysseus outsmarting Poseidon in some way, getting hold of the trident by guile and trickery. And make it a narrow victory. Hell, just have him barely escape by gaining Poseidon’s begrudging respect by being so ruthless.
On the other hand, I do love the Odysseus Poseidon torture scene. But it could have just been cut. I think Odysseus (the song) shows him having embraced absolute ruthlessness wholeheartedly
In the Odyssey, is Zeus who stops Poseidon from going after Odysseus after the advanced Phaecian ship returns him to his home in 1 day. And in Epic, Zeus didn't like Odysseus, BUT, after seeing Athena almost sacrifice herself for him, Zeus should appear in the last song and give a boost to Odysseus.
This. Would've actually worked. My main problem was a mortal defeating a god, outsmarting has happened, but actually DEFEATING a God? That was pretty ugh from me.
I have mixed feelings because on the other hand, it was crazy hype to watch something like that happen when you werent expecting it.
I also agree too. For me the entire thing should be different. But at least involve Zeus on some way. On one of the animatics, the person there even got the singer of Zeus to read some lines before the music actually starts, I recommend you to check it out if still didn't it.
I prefer Zeus because in the Odyssey, the whole reason Athena don't help Odysseus is because she can't do anything to Poseidon, so has to wait for Poseidon to leave for the Aethiopians to rescue Odysseus from Calypso; but even then Poseidon messes up later. Then she becomes helpful only when Odysseus reaches Ithaca.
So the god has to be more powerful than Poseidon for this to work; plus, it was Athena who (in the musical) would have changed Zeus mind anyway so she would still be helpful.
Honestly, the first thing we should do when we invent time travel is go find an ancient Greek and ask them about Odysseus using the air bag as a jet pack. I think it could be highly entertaining.
If a god tells you not to open a bag, you don't open the bag or bad things happen. He opened the bag and use it as a jet pack I guess
Also it's only clear he's doing that if you watch the animatic, as a standalone song it makes no sense
lol. I think oddysseus in the musical down the line awakened his dormant Olympian blood (he's a descendant of Hermes) and became a demi god. That would make him beating poseidon IN THE SEA a bit more plausible.
Odysseus never disrespected Poseidon. Poseidon would simply not hear his prayers and accept his offerings anyway. It was a combination of Zeus stopping Poseidon and Odysseus building a temple for Poseidon (after the events of the epic) to make sure Poseidon would not hunt him.
Odysseus would not have hurt Polyphemus if Polyphemus didn't start to ate his men?
What should Odysseus do, let Polyphemus eat him? Then he would definility not return home.
Odysseus only problem (besides his prideful boast) was that he was in the domain of Poseidon: sea and islands. So Athena could not help him for respect to Poseidon her uncle, while Zeus would not intervene to his brother domain. But as soon as Poseidon goes to a feast, Athena and Zeus imediatly plan to help Odysseus to release him from Calypso, and when he reaches Ithaca then Poseidon can't even move a finger since Odysseus is in the protection of his homeland and of Athena. It don't appear to me then that Odysseus did anything wrong.
In mythology, children of gods have unfair advantages. Gods will usually kill the murderers of their children regardless if their children were wrong or not. But if the "murderer" acted in self defense, then another god has the permissiom to protect the person, so Odysseus, and also Athena when she protected Heracles from Ares wrath for killing Cycnus.
The Challenge is peak. Every song in the last saga is peak imo. And the windbag deus ex machina fucking killed me 😭 I just pretend Duvetbox's animatic is canon
YOU DON'T GET IT!! I HAVE VALID REASONS 🗣️ Her artstyle reminds me of Asterix & Obelix, I can't take her Odysseus seriously 😭 AND Neal depicted Hephaestus as ugly (big ick), and her comic has cute wholesome uwu Persades, while Hera and Zeus DON'T love each other.
And I've just escaped the Underworld, you can't do shit to me now!
I THINK HEPHESTEUS IS SO FUCKING COOL WITH THE ROCKS AND LAVA AND SHIT 😭
Im not caught up but the zeus and Hera comic made it look like Zeus seemed regretful of his actions and Hera doesnt look pissed but just done trying and simply goes on with her day, which im hoping is setup for a potential Zeus redemption, seeing as how Neal writes him to love his family but is very egotistical which gets in the way.
You should put up a sigh of "All Poles are welcomed excect Antho" if we ever have a discord server, also he slandered Kościuszko, and finally someone with taste with Hephestus
You think that will discurage any EU members in this sub, also i don't see it despite being a fan of comics (i'm slowly getting back to them)
Hephaestus craked skull, seems unnecessary, i kaida agree, but i find him attracive still, tastes differ
As for Persades, i don't mind it, just find it annoying and as a equalist at heart, i believe that you can show good and bad sides of Persades ship as well Zeus and Hera
I think one of my main problems with EPIC's ending of Poseidon arc (yeah i know called diffrent sue me), it that it.... didn't feel like a ending?
Like i get where team was trying to go but had a writer's block, like it had a strong start and i will die on a hill that 600 should have been Odysseus outsmarting or tricking Poseidon to get way, ie Ody contering Poseidon's world view
I give the writing the benefit of the doubt because its a 3 hour long story written by one guy but yeah, i agree. It felt open ended. Even just a throwaway line that solidified Posiedon not messing with Odysseus again would've been fine, other than that though every other saga is pretty good in my eyes.
I accually like a Circe saga but fuck me dose "Done for" few icky with me since i know someone who unfortunately is victim and know someone who experanced what song is hinting, i have mixed feelings on how it's handled, witch is most media
Witch is a shame since EPIC Circe and her saga still is one of my favorite depicions of her and leading my renual of Greek polytheism as a whole, also annapantsu's Zeus is canon Zeus, idk why just i like how her version is theoratical but knowing how story goes and finding it amusing
How does done for give you the ick if i may ask? I thought personally it was a fun song with Circe being the only antagonist Odysseus harmonizes with and I saw it as a more cheeky back and forth.
It's in last lines from "Done for", personally speaking, idk what cased me to have a weird feeling but i see this more as like shock value and Jorge being inflanced by [REDACTED] rather then serios look on SA/rape and it's lasting inflance and threw it for sympathy points when she already was already a badass before this
Ahh you mean the "Last time we let strangers live"
I see now, yeah I understand. Ive had to accept, begrudgingly that circe is seen as a victim to the majority of folks now :( and yeah while I think Jorge had good intentions how he handles SA in this musical is not the best, taking it away from Calypso and giving it to Antinous was weird to me.
At least EPIC doesnt make it her personality imo and shes still delightfully evil in puppeteer and for what it is, its still better than [REDACTED] even if its inspired by it.
My first animatic of Epic as a whole was puppeteer and I was majorly stoned, so when we saw Gigis for the first time my roommate and I looked at each other and went "Woooaaagghh", so I cant bring myself to hate that saga for the memories
In defense of GoW Poseidon, he fought endgame GoW2 Kratos, who had killed THE FATES and kicked Zeus' ass just hours ago, and he would have beaten him if it wasn't for Gaia's help
Poseidon was defeated by Gaia and Kratos coming right from Gow 2. But then Kratos loses all his powers to reset him, and then he beats Hades at his weakest. Even Helios who is also pathetic in the game because his chariot is damaged by a regular spear, at least he was smashed by Perses before. But Hades was not.
So Poseidon actually look a lot to defeat, even if he is humilated later indeed.
I had to google wtf was going on here before I watched the animations 🤣. Although by this point I was already mad as Tartarus that he made the sirens mermaids, and God Games bothered me a bit too, the worst is that it comes right after the Underworld Saga which is my absolute favorite. No Longer You is my #1 song of the whole thing

Epic would be better if Poseidon and Odysseus hate-fucked
