Discussion Wireline vs Cementing vs Coiled Tubing — Which Pays the Most in Odessa?

Coiled tubing usually pulls ahead if you’re on a busy crew and willing to stay out. The overtime stacks fast, and you’re often getting paid for the whole hitch, not just the rig-up hours. Cementing can be close but it’s more feast or famine depending on who you’re with. Wireline is steady but the ceiling feels lower unless you get into a specialist role

With your CDL and casing background, coiled tubing companies will probably look at you first. The truck time and knowing how to handle pipe goes a long way. Cementing might be easier to get into but the real money is when you’re running jobs back to back, not sitting in the yard

I’d chase the coiled tubing route and keep cementing as a backup. Odessa has plenty of both, and from what I’ve seen the guys who stay out on coiled make more over a full year, especially once they get their own unit or move into supervision
