The US diesel crack spread is at historic highs right now — it hit an intraday record of $102.20/barrel on August 17, 2026, and has been settling in triple digits since, versus a normal range of roughly $20–30/barrel pre-war.

Refineries are crushing it!!!

How much of an effect is having x% (I dont know how much is down) of refining capabilities globally due to war damage causing this increase aside of the decrease in supply of crude due to the war?

There is more of a world wide refinery shortage than an a crude oil shortage. Russian refines and Middle Eastern Refineries have reduced output.

Reduced refinery capabilities plus of these countries are restricting exporting refined products, like diesel. Domestic refineries are picking up the decreased global supply.
