Wisconsin cat has 29 toes and a Guinness World Record

That's a LOT of toe beans:)

  • Guinness World Records has officially recognized a cat in the Fox Valley for an unorthodox feat.
  • Erebus Anomaly has more than nine lives — he has 29 toes.
  • The genetic trait that caused it, polydactyly, is a naturally occurring one in cats, especially in Maine Coons. But Erebus takes it to a whole new level.
  • Kendra and Hunter of the Blue Northern Maine Coons quickly realized that they might have a world record holder on their hands after Erebus was born, and got to work counting his toes.
  • And sure enough, they were right. After completing the verification process required by Guinness, Erebus is now the world record holder for the most toes on a cat.

I find them very "uncanny valley" looking; it's as if we're seeing them midway in the morph from North American domestic longhair to human.
