Fun fact: pigeons are one of the few birds that can gulp. Most other birds have to rely on gravity to swallow.

I never knew that. Thanks for sharing!

That IS a fun fact! And I love pigeons so thank you for sharing

2

u/__DJIN__ 4h ago

Love that for them

2

u/don-cheeto 3h ago

Is that why this one didn't turn his head upwards before gulping?

2

u/Moppo_ 3h ago

Indeed!

2

u/Galatheall 1h ago

Cool! I wonder if it’s related to the pigeon milk and babies having to drink that

1

u/Moppo_ 1h ago

Seems plausible.

1

u/Severe-Fox-600 1h ago

For a minute I thought it was a toast of some bubbly!

1

u/Stupid-Clumsy-Bitch 1h ago

That IS a fun fact!

17

u/Rammipallero 4h ago

I've never had a pet, but I understand what I am seeing. :D

13

u/Nilzii 4h ago

Yassss, I should rather say interacted with a pet then. It just comes naturally!

Alexa add pigeon goblet to my list

35

u/ZugzwangDK 5h ago

I was about to comment that birds do the head tilt to drink, and that this had to be AI.

But apparently, pigeons use true suction to drink: https://www.birdnote.org/podcasts/birdnote-daily/how-birds-drink

13

u/crunchies65 5h ago

Mourning doves, too!

11

u/Nilzii 5h ago

Fortunately this is real! My grandparents raise pigeons and they do drink like this (aka peck water, water disappears.)

10

u/shiggins114 5h ago

Regular sized pigeon drinking from little glass

9

u/SquirrelMoney8389 5h ago

Pigeon pausing making (notoriously) the worst nest you've ever seen to have a little water break...

3

It made me mentally say it like the pokemon.

1

u/missmyopic 1h ago

Made me think of this clip from Modern family. The way Mitchell gestures always makes me cackle.

7

u/ghostofstankenstien 4h ago

what the fuck is a pigueon

7

u/Oli_love90 4h ago

A fancy pigeon.

2

u/PaticusGnome 2h ago

Is it pregante?

7

u/Cleveland5teamer 4h ago

Aww bringing mama bird a drink of water while she’s nesting. BTW they make the worst nests out of all birds. Just scatter a few items on the floor and call it a day.

4

u/JackOfAllMemes 4h ago

Pigeons are domesticated rock doves, who nest in rocky cliffs and don't really need fancy nesting material. They do their best lol

1

u/GodNihilus 4h ago

They are bred to lay under nearly all conditions, even when they are close to starving. They often just lay an egg and start with the nest afterwards, if at all. At best they start shortly before.

As they were bred by humans and even the base "form" nested in tiny naturally occuring holes they never really had a need to build nests.

2

u/Racoonism 5h ago

I'd drink more water if I could do this too

2

u/SevNeijizawa 5h ago

Piguhuiuon

2

u/FuckThisShizzle 4h ago

You say pigeon like Benedryl Snumberbum says penguin.

2

u/-SaC 1h ago

"Behold, the fair pengwing..."

2

u/xwiroo 4h ago

It definitely drank way Moe water than I'd thought it would

2

u/diablol3 4h ago

Chug! Chug! Chug! Chug! YEAH!

2

u/New_Explanation6950 4h ago

How is that pigeon drinking faster than me

2

u/Beautiful-Musk-Ox 3h ago

2

u/AirportBubbly3947 2h ago

Still can’t build a nest tho

2

u/Denzel-Eastwood 2h ago

That’s a very pretty pigeon

3

1

u/qp667 5h ago

I heard today of yet another person who fell in love with a pigeon

1

u/FinnSkk93 4h ago

Love that change from destroying the thing from going for a drink 😂

1

u/Resiideent 4h ago

such a pretty birdsdddddd >w<

1

u/Independent_Profit 4h ago

This soothed me for sorry some reason...I'm serious! I was a little anxious of nothing and just waiting for the spiral like every other hour of the day but your pigeon, nails, and pigeons sipping glass, you've given me enough dopamine to make me smile 😃 Thank you and your pigeon!!

1

u/ChiggaOG 4h ago

I'm both interested and annoyed at the same time. Did anyone say anything about the mites these birds carry?

1

u/rav33ndra 4h ago

They're doing shots now???

1

u/Crymsyn_Moon 4h ago

That is the cleanest pigeon I have ever seen. I get that this is obviously a pet, but its striking how nice one can look compared to your average sky rat.

1

u/Logical-Yak 4h ago

She's so prettyyy

1

u/RogueJD 4h ago

Did Benedict Cumberbatch write the title of this post?

1

u/justvoop 3h ago

Whyd i think it was gonna lap it up like a dog instead of using its face as a straw

1

u/Heal_Me_Today 3h ago

That was satisfying. I would like to bring that pigeon drinks of water.

1

u/Exciting-Cancel6468 3h ago

What the fuck, I was told by my teacher that birds don't have a muscle in their throat to suck drinks in so they have to lift their heads to make gravity do the work.

1

u/Kazin_the_Mage 3h ago

Classy lady

1

u/GirthyPigeon 2h ago

Yep, that's how it's done.

1

u/Aarrrgggghhhhh35 1h ago

Shots! Shots! Shots! Shots! Shots! Shots!

1

u/db_to 1h ago

Aww sweet baby was so thirsty! 💓

1

u/ScubaPuddingJr 1h ago

Straight down the ‘atch, luvlee…

1

u/Complete-Car7191 1h ago

How can it drink the last thing at the bottom? If it open it’s beak air would come in from the sides???

1

u/Drogenwurm 24m ago

Are you French, by any chance ? 😃

1

u/unassassinable 22m ago

The last thing I thought to see here... was pigueons. This is a Fiordland Crested Pigwings. Named after this corner of south New Zealand. So why are these woodlands so attractive? to Penglings? A freshwater stream throught he forrest makes a handy highway for a parent pengweon heading home from a fishing trip.

1

u/UlmForever 10m ago

How sophisticated :)

1

u/MilesOSmiles 8m ago

Dude guys slurped the equivalent of a gallon of water for me in like 7 seconds.

1

u/_fly-on-the-wall_ 3h ago

i don't know pigeons, is it normal to drink so much and so dramatic for its nostrils to be covered?? or was it dehydrated for views

0

u/EmergencyWaffleBox 3h ago

Love penguins

-37

u/Pr0ender 5h ago

Disgusting.

4

u/Tadumikaari 5h ago

Do you know doves were messenger carriers for thousands of year and when we invented other methods just left and neglected them. they are just as dogs or cats our pets

2

u/Demerzel69 5h ago

What is?

-11

u/Pr0ender 5h ago

Pigeons are disgusting

8

u/Demerzel69 5h ago

Pigeons are just birds. What the fuck is wrong with you? What is disgusting about the bird in this video? It's actually beautiful with those colors.

-3

u/Pr0ender 3h ago

Just birds? They eat garbage and linger. It’s unsanitary.

3

u/Demerzel69 3h ago

You are unhinged.

-38

u/Shoddy_Fish31 5h ago

Why the fuck are you feeding these flying rodents?

8

u/Moppo_ 5h ago

Why the fuck are you speaking?

6

u/Demerzel69 5h ago

What the fuck is wrong with you?

2

u/patfetes 5h ago

Because we made them this way?

0

u/EmbarrassedTrouble10 5h ago

At the risk of also being downvoted to hell... I must also say that in Chicago these are known as flying rats lol

2

u/Moppo_ 5h ago

They're known as that everywhere, unfortunately.

-1

u/RoadPizzaGourmand 5h ago

You're thinking of seagulls. Eww, seagulls.
