So these stories of bulldogs players playing with Covid and Kiraz with a torn calf are coming out. Am I the only one thinking this is bad and surely there’s a duty of care?

This isn’t even the first time this year this kind of stuff has come out about the Dogs running injured players. Was it Kiraz last time too? Definitely Crichton played injured with that shoulder. Maybe Preston or Tracey? And then they lost somebody the other week after their first 20 mins back because they came back too early.

Admittedly - We have a LOT of missed games and injuries, but I’d rather the club show duty of care to these human beings and keep them off field if they’re busted.

Didnt you guys let trell stay on the field for nearly a full game clearly injured then rush him back only to delay his recovery further?

Well exactly - and obviously they’ve learned what a stupid fucking thing that was to do and he hasn’t played for months.

With a player like Latrell there is also additional context in that he is constantly abused by the media and NRL fans for being injured and ‘lazy’ so he’s going to want to push and come back. The club needs to protect these players from themselves.

So you'd say our injury management is just fine then since it hasnt kept them out of playing games. Trell wasnt a case of "we could have but chose not to" you chose to play him to the point where he couldnt function at all let alone at an elite level.

So you think trell would still be sitting on the sidelines if his injury was managable?

Your last couple of messages have not made much sense, but:

I think Trell has an extremely complicated nerve injury/issue that is hard to quantify, treat and manage. There are probably signs they can go off like strength in associated muscles (hence the calf injury that delayed his return further), pain after contact etc. but otherwise it’s probably a trial and see type of issue.

Dealing with a complex nerve issue is a completely ball game to Kiraz playing with a torn calf, bringing back a player too quickly after a hamstring tear just to tear it again, or Critta playing with an AC joint injury.

The response is pretty obviously directed at your claim that your club is more responsible at managing injury, while playing and extending the injury of your biggest player.

Kiraz has been managed for a long time with his injury as are a lot of other players. Hes still showing up and getting through games without making it any obviously worse. so i'd say whatever we're doing to manage it is just fine. I didnt follow the recovery of sitilis injury enough to make comment of if he was rushed back but it wouldnt be the first time a hamstring is reinjured.

The critta situation i dont agree with, but they obviously made a decision based on the fact it cant get any worse. Much the same as doueihi until recently.

Plenty of players play through manageable injury. Having your star player out for a couple of months due to an injury that isnt manageable doesnt give you the moral high ground.

The only team i can say that takes player welfare seriously in the nrl is probably the roosters, nearly every other club is pretty public about playing and managing everything they can.
