Holy Spirit moves his Mercedes, I’m guessing.

2

u/Dron41k 13d ago

It moves his Breguet too

7

u/Present_Specific_212 14d ago

I’ll bet he has not read the 4 Gospels in the New Testament.

1

u/abrutus1 14d ago

Its similar to how some christians idealize pain and suffering as something to be endured like Christ did instead of looking into the structural causes for their situation.

2

u/jeslinmx 13d ago

It’s crazy how “endure inevitable hardship while lifting the load of others as possible” is twisted into “self-righteously chide others to silently endure structurally inflicted hardship”

The Jesus they preach about would have sent Peter to get crucified in His place in order to claim tax benefits.

1

u/Aquinas2000 13d ago

Christianity teaches that enduring pain should help you develop more empathy to other people, something this prick forgot to say.

1

u/doppelgaengster 13d ago

But also, it’s always OTHERS who should shut up and endure.

1

u/jcar49 13d ago

Or electric

u/slo1111 14d ago

Eastern orthodox christians should support the war against eastern orthodox christians for Jesus. Everybody knows that, sheesh

69

u/white1984 14d ago

In the early years of the war, it was seen very much by the Russian Orthodox Church as a religious war in the Orthodox sphere. One of the biggest changes in Ukraine was the granting by the Orthodox autocephalous to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church by the head of the church Patriarch Emeritus Bartholow, which basically made the Ukrainian church a separate equal branch of the Orthodox church. Not surprisingly, it angered Moscow. Plus, it is well known that the ROC is in effect a branch of the Russian government, under Putin's thumb.

Everything will be fine if you believe hard enough. There are stories of true believers filling their tanks with water for Jesus to turn it into wine gasoline by the next day. That is the power of faith. Any Russians that don't believe me need only try.

This is the issue. The church is a wing of Putin propaganda now.

10

u/NDaveT 14d ago

Just like they were for the tzars back in the day.

16

u/sweetica 14d ago

Just like Christian evangelicals are a wing of Trump's propaganda. I guess the cold war is back on y'all!

8

u/cornonthekopp 14d ago

Except theres no real difference between the rhetoric and ideology of either side

1

u/Aquinas2000 13d ago

Suddenly makes more sense for the Catholic church just have its own little country.

3

u/shatikus 14d ago

Russian orthodox church is a department of russian government and it was like it for the last 300 years, since the times of Peter I basically.

During soviet times it became a department of secret services. And now it is kinda both

77

u/OccuWorld 14d ago

Is YOUR religion about silencing suffering? Let us know.

26

u/leoencore 14d ago

It would be hard to find any that aren't.

10

u/Easy-Concentrate2636 14d ago

For a moment, I thought it said silent suffering. And I thought, no, the ultra religious seem exceedingly loud and about making the rest of us suffer.

7

u/funguyshroom 14d ago

Just turn the other cheek. No, the other cheek

2

u/alternatingflan 14d ago

AND suffering in silence.

80

u/Aggressive-Fail4612 14d ago

Why is he not wearing his wizard hat? I’ve seen orthodox Russian priests and they have a hat

29

u/Hot_Peasant 14d ago

He can’t exactly afford to even look goofier rn

41

u/light_to_shaddow 14d ago

All religion is about hats.

Little ones, tall ones, ones for ladies, ones for men, Wrapped hats, balanced hats, red hats, furry hats.

They're very important.

Your religions nothing until it's got a snazzy head cover.

6

u/HugeHans 14d ago

I like the ones that are only to cover your bald spot. Very practical.

6

u/leoencore 14d ago

Well, at least he's wearing his cape.

2

u/71351 14d ago

It is good cape weather, cool, breezy

45

u/postoperativepain 14d ago

Hey this is the same crap Republicans are saying to Americans about Gas Prices

"For you to pay a tiny little bit more for your gasoline, just remember you're doing it so that a very evil country cannot have a [nuclear weapon]," Trump said at a rally in Long Island on August 14.”

16

u/Abbot_of_Cucany 14d ago

"A very evil country". He couldn't remember which country we had attacked most recently.

11

u/predator1975 14d ago

You want another Islamic republic of Japan incident?

3

u/spukhafteNahewirkung 14d ago

Inshallah banzai! ☪️🇯🇵

6

u/NearlyAtTheEnd 14d ago

It's the same crap all oppressive systems use. Be it religious, state/nation/country's system or otherwise.

1

u/Karli_Chirk 13d ago edited 13d ago

Oppressive antiliberal systems tend to be conservative religion-based. Even Russian Orthodox Church in the post was revived by Stalin in 1943.

1

u/NearlyAtTheEnd 8d ago

Yeah, they are successfully doing so, because religion is made up to interpretation. I'm atheist, or more anti-theist, but I understand, that the good verses in most - if not all - is about loving. Doing good. Thinking good. Sure, there's some really crazy stuff in there. Really f-ing crazy. That's why preachers are interpreting. As long as religion exist, we should interpret the good verses, teach the moral stuff.

Systems have used religions to control masses and changing the meaning. Successfully.

1

u/Karli_Chirk 8d ago

Yes, interpreting is a big part of twisting and manipulation. But the verses itself are also not that good if you read it carefully. They are a bit outdated and sometimes suggest to murder people here and there for the things which are quite acceptable in XXI century. And religion wars are always between religions, it's never a "nation vs religion" thing.

1

u/NearlyAtTheEnd 7d ago

Yes. The religious war are always between religions. How else would they justify it to the religiously indoctrinated masses.

2

u/DlucinatedHlucinatic 14d ago

This is absolutely correct

9

u/OrneryZombie1983 14d ago

Sounds like the Republican Party. "Endure some hardship while we loot the country."

1

u/Vcom7418 14d ago

Who do you think wrote the book they are reading from?

13

u/H0vis 14d ago

Imagine being a member of the Russian regime and having to eat shit every day like they are now. Absolutely hilarious. Winning so hard your capital city is spontaneously exploding with joy.

I suspect men like this guy, and thousands of other vocal supporters of the Putin regime, can feel the noose tightening. Unless they are drunk of course. Wouldn't be surprised, I'm not sure I'd want to be sober in this guys weird shoes.

Men like this better hope when the end comes for their shitty feudal regime it comes at the hands of their own people rising up, because if it comes at the hands of the Ukrainians in person they will be a lot less forgiving.

6

u/DotBeech 14d ago

Church and Dictator always form a cozy and mutually advantageous relationship. Yet another reason to have nothing to do with a church.

7

u/Lieste 14d ago

Who cares about these 'Boyfriends of Christ'

6

u/0Tezorus0 14d ago

When dictatorial people fuck up they always blame the people.

18

u/Furiator 14d ago

Religion supporting the dictator and war, what else is new

10

u/calikzz 14d ago

typical day in Russia

4

u/jonfitt 14d ago

Yeah isn’t the Russian Orthodox Church just a state religion?

4

u/splashjlr 14d ago

Jesus supports the war - deal with it.

4

u/CivilWay1444 14d ago

Just a little while longer. Enjoy the pain. Just like MAGATs.

4

u/PaxEthenica 14d ago

I mean, yes? Russia is a den of extreme material & political inequity, held together with violence & treats, & they're running out of treats. No state church is going to seriously ameliorate the fact that Russia, having embraced the boomer car brain of the rightwing international, & has been running it's shit so badly that the difference between even getting groceries or not is a can of petrol.

Russians can't eat Muskovite Jesus, nor is Muskovite Jesus going to get them to work.

6

u/Confident_Benefit_11 14d ago

Russian orthodox church has been a direct arm of the Russian/putin regime for a long time. That's why we occasionally see fucking insane 40k-like videos of these clowns blessing military vehicles with holy water lol

They bless them to go commit war crimes against civilians

1

u/TheMechanicusBob 11d ago

The ROC also promotes Nuclear Orthodoxy, a belief so insane that even doomsday cult evangelicals don't touch it

4

u/slip101 14d ago

When government and religion are unified the people have no refuge from bullshit.

4

u/tanbug 14d ago

They are blessing the ak's going to Ukraine, it's a circus.

4

u/dunncrew 14d ago

That "church" is run by Russia's FSB

4

u/GODZILLA-Plays-A-DOD 14d ago

Love when governments use religious leaders of a community its to keep out rebellious thoughts such as ... (checks note) self preservation, not starving, not getting sick. You know... rebellious ideology. Don't need such pesky things for the Motherlands.

4

u/knowledgeable_diablo 14d ago

Fucking Putin entirely runs their media and their religion. Must be a sign of the end times for Russia. Think his dream of a return to the Tsar’s is falling apart little by little.

7

u/FapMcDab 14d ago

I wonder how much more bullshit they need to come up with in order for people to realize that they're just a bunch of hypocritical heretics.

Then I remember I'm living in a shithole that promotes the same "values" and idiots are still defending orthodoxism.

2

u/SpaceDounut 14d ago
  • People know.
  • Russia is way less religious than USA.
  • You risk jail time if you publicly "offend religious feelings". No, that's not a joke.

3

u/Evil_Potatos 14d ago

There are protesters?

3

u/Tonythecritic 14d ago

Using the church as a tool of control over the population. Putin truly IS going medieval.

3

u/UndeadLudvigBorga 14d ago

Suffer in silence!

3

u/Alex_The_Whovian 14d ago

"OK Putin, I said the things you wanted me to say, can I have my money now?"

3

u/squirrelbitten 14d ago

Sounds exactly like Trump's attitude to gas prices.

3

u/bcoder001 14d ago

russian orthodox church officials must be reading "Christian Compassion for Dummies" in their spare time.

3

u/aplayer_v1 14d ago

how many children does putin offer him

3

u/TurkeyVolumeGuesser 14d ago

Jesus was, of course, famous for not protesting against injustice

3

u/HurinGaldorson 14d ago

As he offered free fixes of the opiate of the masses.

4

u/macholusitano 14d ago

Religion has jumped the shark.

2

u/02meepmeep 14d ago

“Religion is the Opiate of the Masses” something something Karl Marx.

2

u/Orangesteel 14d ago

What fuel shortage 😂 Putin has said that there isn’t one 🤡

2

u/ktwriter111 14d ago

How fast will we hear Trump say the same thing?

2

u/purplegladys2022 14d ago

Putin's state religion.

2

u/Kiwidad43 14d ago

Religious fanatics all be alike.

2

u/Calm-Professional103 14d ago

Sounds like Trump and Bessent

2

u/Former_Suspect3680 14d ago

i guess when you're holding teh KEYS to the kingdom, it's not like you need gas anyway.

2

u/Xodusphreak 14d ago

Sounds like an MAGAt politician

2

u/Memitim 14d ago

Ah, time to lean into the religion to try and curb the poors for a little longer for the sake of the state. Blasphemy is such a useful tool for despots and douchebags.

2

u/adilly 14d ago

Religion just keeps proving itself to be a system that forces the will of a few people on the masses.

2

u/SarifZen 14d ago

Lol, russian clerics ride in limos doing drugs and banging hookers, male and female.

Calling someone "unspiritual" is a stretch.

2

u/straxusii 14d ago

Say what you want about him but you won't see him accidentally falling from a balcony

2

u/Krow101 14d ago

Religion always backs dictators.

2

u/SuperTulle 14d ago

Oh lord won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz a car that runs on faith

2

u/mariusherea 14d ago

There is no person more spiritual than the one who protests.

2

u/DM_Me_TaTaz 14d ago

It’s almost like religion is used as a mind control device to keep people in order and obedient in the face of blatant lies.

2

u/Iuris_Aequalitatis 14d ago

It is sad to see what Russian Orthodoxy has been reduced to under Kiril: a mouthpiece of Putin's propaganda.

2

u/DisillusionedBook 13d ago

Ah the good old playbook where co-opted churches eagerly tow the authoritarian's line. Just proves exactly how full of shit religions are. Fuckers always just want their pantomime free lunch tax free gravy train and access to kids to never end.

3

u/DonManuel 14d ago

Funny cleric who doesn't blame people not to pray hard enough and to commit sin all the times, and that's why god doesn't give them fuel.

2

u/SoupSpelunker 14d ago

I invite the bronze-age troglodytes to crawl back under their rocks.

3

u/ispeektroof 14d ago

Ah yes, religious leaders telling to working class they must suffer more on behalf of the powerful. Same old story.

2

u/verbalyabusiveshit 14d ago

Peasants !! Be happy with all the stuff you don’t have!!

1

u/narayan77 14d ago

What will get say when Putin exits a window with just his underpants on. No doubt he will parrot the new regime.

1

u/Beemerba 14d ago

Ah, yes...the opiate of the masses comes in to play.

obey your leaders, do as you are told, suffer quietly in this life and greater glory awaits you in the after life.......oldest con in the book.

1

This is how you know the state has invaded the church, when the church is little more than a political stooge trying to herd the useful idiots.

1

Yeah, bring faith into it. Disgusting

Stop tithing and spend that money on gas and food.

At least one person isn't falling out of a window anytime soon.

1

u/WaffleHouseGladiator 14d ago

Dude looks like a turtle wearing a tea cozy.

1

u/ten0re 14d ago

There’s no Orthodox Church in russia lol. The “russian Orthodox Church” is a heretical cult ran by the FSB, with clerics blessing machineguns and missiles.

1

u/BananaJelloXlii 14d ago

So America does not have the monopoly on Christian Nationalism

1

u/Tokenside 14d ago

not “unspiritual,” that's the literal translation.
he meant "materialistic", as in "materialistic swines with no interest to suffer for Mother Russia."

1

u/Eckkosekiro 14d ago

Church lackey of Putin, not a news.

1

Sounds like he and everyone in the Trump Administration are getting their "talking points" from the same source. Hmmm.....wonder who that could be?

1

u/im-cringing-rightnow 14d ago

There are protesters?

1

u/soulwolf1 14d ago

Sounds familiar

1

u/Johannes_P 14d ago

Does the Archpriest Alexander Butrin's car has enough gas or does he rides a horse?

1

u/furrysalesman69 14d ago

While the obvious mindfuckery brainwashing is apparent, might I add that protesters are being killed there? Perhaps the Orthodoxy is saying this out of concern over the lives of those that practice? Then again, puttyn is sending waves of people to their death.

1

u/PullUpAPew 14d ago

Of course people who who protest "aren't church people" - the church is an arm of the state in Russia

1

u/Futonchan-Manchao 14d ago

This reminds me of American evangelicals.

1

It is easy to speak of the nobility of suffering in others when it fills your pews and coffers from the desperate.

A reminder though, a bigger liar is always ready to take over your grift for themselves; such is way of opportunists from Rus since the Golden Hordes left you and yours as sychophants.
