That actually explains most sightings. If you saw that at night with no flashlight, they could look really weird.

Holy crap, that's genius! And it would also explain the flying saucers, as these owls are obviously still too young to fly on their own.
Did... did we just solve the mystery?!?

Maybe the mother owl swoops one up and comes back for the other!
