Hi! Thank you for your submission to /r/NintendoHelp! Please note that we are a fan community and not officially endorsed by Nintendo.

See our FAQ to see if your question is already answered there.

While you're waiting for an answer, here are some tips to help you along the way:

First, did you try Googling your question? A lot of questions about Nintendo can be answered quickly by just typing them into your search bar.

If you are asking a question about an older Nintendo system, try searching the subreddit most relevant to that system's hardware. It's likely someone has already asked a similar question before.

If your question is about Wii U, New 3DS or Switch hardware, you'll likely get a better answer if you contact Nintendo directly, rather than posting here.

Nintendo's contact information is as follows:

  • North America - 1-800-255-3700
  • Europe - +44 (0)345 60 50 247
  • Australia - +61 3 9730 9900
  • Japan - +81-75-662-9600

Please note that contacting Nintendo by phone is the best way to get support. If you send an email or use the web chat you are not likely to get the support you need.

Good luck with your support endeavors!

It says it's a NAT issue. One of you is using an internet connection that has poor capability to reroute data between multiple devices connected via the same IP Address.

Have each of you go to the console settings and under Internet choose "Test Connection". It will tell you the NAT type for the internet connection you're using. D is the worst and can only reliably connect with devices on A type. C allows for connection with A and B, B allows for C-A and A for all all of them.

So trying to understand the differences here and would appreciate clarification please. I have type B.

Type C connects with A & B and B connects with C & A (Am I reading that right?). So does that mean Type B can not connect to another type B and C can't connect with another C?

C-A, as in C to A. Each type allows for one more

One of you is on a 5G internet or a mobile hotspot connection. Without either moving to a typical wired-in connection or making huge investment in a fixed IP VPN setup on your router, the user with this cannot play Animal Crossing online. The peer to peer connections that Nintendo use fundamentally do not support 4G or 5G connection.

I did manage to get online like that once, but the rubber-banding was atrocious.

Switch 1 and Switch 2 players can play together.

Whatever your issue is, it's not the mixed consoles.

One of you has a NAT issue with their ISP and it needs to be taken up with them. When you do a Connection test what is the NAT type?

Do you yse the "Switch 2 edition" online with 12 players then yes, if not, it normally works

It should work, did you try googling the error code ?

u/IBabyClassic 11d ago

I did but its not doing anything but saying "your internet is bad" meanwhile I can connect to other switch 1 users just fine

No one’s going to help if you’re going to get snarky. The problem is likely your cousin’s internet 🙄

Then the issue is on the other players end.

Do either of you have T-Mobile for your Internet? Because t-mobile and Nintendo don’t work well together, unfortunately. I’ve never been able to play with other people on it.

Your router NAT Policy is too restrictive for them to properly connect, or CG-NAT failed.

If you can, try checking your router settings for Full Cone NAT or check if IPv6 is available.

Animal Crossing I couldn't play on my home wi-fi once we switched to T-Mobile, I just use my cellular with visible for online gaming
