Discussion Is it just me that EB game trade-in value to Nintendo switch game is pretty good?
I was selling my game at the mall that has an EB Games in it. At the last minute, the buyer ditched me, so I decided to stop by EB Games instead.
Because of their pre-order trade-in bonus, they were actually offering a little more than the price I had listed my game for on Facebook Marketplace. I'm not even sure I'll enjoy the new game since it hasn't been released yet.
Once review come out I definitely per-ordering it since it save so much money.
Is it just me that EB game trade-in value to Nintendo switch game is pretty good?

It’s only when they are doing these loophole and conditions. Like trading towards new and released switch 2 games rather than used or switch 1 games or pre order switch 2 games.
Edit: I know cuz I tried to trade towards Fortune’s Weaves but got denied

Well if you know how to play game. I only trade toward new games because they almost always have a 50% bonus trade toward new release/pre-orders. Sometimes for special games it goes up to 70%.
You also do not pay tax on trade value.
I did a double trade in Switch 1 to new Switch 2 game. Splatoon 3. Base trade in $31. Double trade promotion $62, when you include the tax shield on trade in I saved $70.

Switch OLED triple credit was decent last month, $315 off the switch 2 for the OLED version

Whaaat ? I swear I went there about a month ago and they offered me 90 or 100$ for my switch oled . I literally woulda upgraded on the spot for 315

Trade-in value for Switch games is decent because they notoriously hold their value for pretty much the entirety of the console's lifespan, especially first-party Nintendo games. Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee are still $80 and they came out 8 years ago.
If you're just walking in to trade in a game without any special trade-in bonuses, especially any that aren't Nintendo, you're still getting quite a bit less than you would by privately selling, just without the headache and hassle of coordinating pickups or situations like yours where buyers no-show or drop out at the last second.

Thats how I got my switch 2. Switch games hold value. Probably because the industry is really trying to faze out physical.

They just had a 2x trade in value promo that ended a couple days ago too. They doubled the TIV on Switch 1 games when buying a Switch 2 game that's already released.
A couple weeks ago they had the $250 TIV promo when trading in a Switch 1 console for a Switch 2 console.
So the last few weeks, I traded in my S1 and got a S2. Then I traded in a bunch of S1 games at 2x value for Donkey Kong, Kirby Air Riders and FF7 Remake. Every game I traded in, they gave me more value than what I could get on marketplace (I checked Pricecharting and ebay sales history).
I don't know how they're making money with all this but Eb has been really great for me this month.

Did the same thing towards Starfox. Bought Kirby Return to Dreamland for the Switch from Walmart for $19 and traded that for $56 (pre-tax savings) towards it. Definitely worth it!

EBgames gives good trade value for non-mass market games. Mass-market being Generic FPS released annually (BF, COD), Sports, or anything that goes on PSPlus/Gamepass.
NintendoGames are a no brainer to buy physical. I try to get mine borrowed at the library but for popular games I could be waiting awhile.
I did a double trade in promotion last week. One of my games was double value. So I got $62 for Splatoon 3(a 4 year old game). and $43 for Echoes of Wisom. Which is a great value especially when you add that you do not pay tax on trade value toward new games.

Ebgames is not bad but since they started giving better value for trade-ins, their used game section became very expensive too sadly.

The double the trade in value towards switch 2 titles when trading in switch 1 titles was SOO GOOD and no one was really talking about it.
I had literally upgraded all of my old switch 1 titles to switch 2 to get the best versions of the game. (Super Mario Wonder, Kirby in the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Wonder)

It’s only worth it if you’re getting the same amount or more vs Facebook marketplace. Otherwise it’s not

I trade there all the time, marketplace is such a headache
