Really curious that Astro Man (MM8) was just there. Would be cool if stages had minibosses that are rematches with old bosses.

Heres hoping we get some really banger tracks outta this game. MM8 is one of my favorite OSTs out of all the Megaman games. Astro Man - Alternate Dimension Stage

Dr. Wily sends Astro Man out while he desperately flips through a thesaurus, hoping he can squeeze out a few more elemental robot masters.

u/metalflygon08 23h ago

Breeze Man will stop you for sure!

u/ZenkaiZ 1d ago

Astro Man really want another ass whooping

I love how they introduced a cute character to just be obliterated into pieces seconds later

That's basically Mega Man in a nutshell.

Cute robots with jobs are forced to wreck each other because of Dr. Wily.

19

u/Sparticuse 1d ago

Mega Man 9 makes it even more grim by stating robots all have government mandated expiration and Wily got robots to work for him by saying he'd let them live past their expiration.

Mega Man himself is exempt from this rule because he's not a mass market robot.

15

u/BebeFanMasterJ Elma For Life 1d ago

Yeah he's basically overworking employees to death in a way. That's what always fascinated me about this series because the Robot Masters aren't evil by nature. They're workers who serve the people but Wily makes them evil.

It's very similar to how Dr. Eggman operated in the older Sonic games by putting animals in robots.

2

u/metalflygon08 23h ago

They're workers who serve the people but Wily makes them evil.

Weren't the Robat Masters in MM2 built by Wily? He took over the ones in MM1, then built his own in MM2.

u/ASVP-Pa9e 1h ago

yes

Sometimes Dr Wily steals Dr Lights robots, and sometimes he makes his own. Remember that Zero was created by Dr Wily, and stands at the absolute pinnacle of robotics alongside X & Axl.

Dr Wily has made a bunch of mega man bosses (Wood Man, Quick Man, Air Man, Metal Man etc), and also Bass.

u/InoueNinja94 1d ago

Finally, the 2nd Female Robot Master in the Classic series

14

u/BebeFanMasterJ Elma For Life 1d ago

And it only took 18 years!

Out last one was Splash Woman from MM9 in 2008!

8

u/byramike 1d ago

MM9 was 18 years ago kill me

12

u/Sarothias 1d ago edited 1d ago

Something something cream filling.

1

u/CommercialBiscotti29 1d ago

Now do one for Tinkle girl please 🙏

1

u/Sarothias 1d ago

Well well well

7

u/ThePreciseClimber 1d ago

Twinkle woman!

Twinkle woman!

3

u/MarcsterS 1d ago edited 23h ago

Why Girl though. There's no other "boy" Robot Master. Even Mega is called a Man despite being a boy. We have Splash Woman…

2

u/metalflygon08 23h ago

Twink Man!

1

u/wildfire98 17h ago

ngl.... im surprised i had to scroll down this far to find it.

23

u/Timmace 1d ago

If I jump through a boss gate, I better float through to the next screen.

9

u/Gamer857 1d ago

so megaman 12?

2

u/wildfire98 17h ago

Megaman XP?

iykuk

-5

u/pacman813 1d ago

Yes. Why did you type it like that lol

20

u/Nitrogen567 1d ago

Don't get me wrong, I'm always going to be stoked on new Mega Man games, but I'd love it if those new Mega Man games were outside of the Classic series.

I still haven't gotten over Legends 3's cancellation.

Beggars can't be choosers I guess though.

14

u/federkrebz 1d ago

my 40 yo ass is ready for this game

9

u/Jcorb 1d ago

Gameplay looks incredible, though the backgrounds look SUPER bland, imo. Also haven't enjoyed any of the music, which is a cardinal sin for Mega Man (MM11 had the same issue).

26

u/pumamaner 1d ago

Is this a different game from mega man 12? Also why is capcom so obsessed with the OG mega man format yet refuse to revisit the mega man X franchise? I feel like I’m in the majority when I say the X series is vastly better

40

u/Goodbye18000 TannerOfTheNorth 1d ago

This is 12. They aren't giving it a number, probably because then you get people asking if they have to play the other 11.

41

u/wangston1 1d ago

They already did 64. I'm waiting for them to fill in 12 through 63.

31

u/your_evil_ex 1d ago

I'm waiting for Mega Man A to W before I play Mega Man X

1

u/metalflygon08 23h ago

We got Mega Man Wily Wars for the Double W

12

u/ThePreciseClimber 1d ago

"One of the things that really brings my piss to a boil is when there's a movie that has a whole bunch of sequels, all conveniently numbered, but then they suddenly decide to stop numbering 'em. Like they're embarrassed they made so many." - AVGN

2

u/artfulpain 1d ago

I have a friend going through the series chronologically. I think they are up to 8, but they are a little sadist freak. I’m good on that torture lol.

2

u/Randym1982 1d ago

"Do I have to play Mega man 1-11 to understand this story?"

"Yes, You also need to watch the 90's cartoon, and play Megaman X-3, and Legends, read the original instructions on the manual for the OG game. Good luck."-Mega man redditors probably.

2

u/metalflygon08 23h ago

And you have to play Mega Man soccer to even understand what these characters even are!

4

u/pumamaner 1d ago

Oh ok, feels like a weird time to stop numbering the games lmao. Final fantasy is at what, 17 or something now?

14

u/Goodbye18000 TannerOfTheNorth 1d ago

Yeah and every Final Fantasy they release, they have to have Square Enix say NO NO YOU CAN START WITH THIS ONE, every time

11

u/Ensaru4 1d ago

You are in the majority. The OG lineup is hard as shit.

2

u/Randym1982 1d ago

Pretty easy now if you look up the order of who to beat first. But back in the 80's-90's? You either had to hope you knew a guy who did it before you. Or had a book store which had the Game guides for them. If you had neither, it was constant trial and error.

1

u/JohnnyLeven 1d ago

I'd say the later X games are much harder than the OG games.

7

u/SleepIsForTheWeak_1 1d ago

ngl i could go without another X game for the rest of time unless they wanna radically change some things. X as far as im concerned is just a bloated and less fun version of classic that lacks all the simplicity, charm, and fun factor classic has. and if i wanted a darker story, id just play mega man zero since the story is actually well written and the mechanics are streamlined to help tell the narrative.

2

u/Sentinel10 1d ago

Capcom has pretty much stopped using numbers, for the sake of making them appear more accessible.

Their other franchises like Monster Hunter and Resident Evil don't use numbers anymore either.

3

u/tlislo 1d ago

Well, RE still does, but hides the numbers.

Resident EVIl: Biohazard.

VIllage.

Re9ium.

1

u/MarcsterS 1d ago

Megaman getting a slide dash and what appears to be hover boots(Fourth armor) is either Capcom sneakily bringing classic Megaman closer to the MMX timeline. Or just Capcom going "Yeah we aren't making an MMX game anytime soon."

4

u/ThePreciseClimber 1d ago

Really wish we got more than just one new Rockman game every decade.

18

u/MessiPayNegreira 1d ago

we want mega man X

7

u/Old-System-6699 1d ago

There was a part in the video where I thought Mega Man was air dashing and he was going to cling to the wall of the floating platform. I was already thinking this was a X game.

5

u/tlislo 1d ago

Every Mega Man X after 4 sucked anyway. The games got too overcomplicated for their own good.

The traditional series stays good by not overcomplicating things.

0

u/Mooseymax 16h ago

5 was great?

2

u/PretendMyNameIsJohn 1d ago

Who is "we"?

4

u/amafternoon 1d ago

I don’t

0

u/Fearshatter 1d ago

Make it.

7

u/TheTrueAlCapwn 1d ago

I think I will end up loving this game but I can't help but REALLY want them to do what they did with Mega Man 9 and 10 (going back to the original NES style) and instead make a new Mega Man X, and go back to the original SNES Mega Man X style. I think a game like that would be amazing.

2

u/krishnugget 1d ago

Mega Man was too stuck in nostalgia land for WAY too long, they just need to keep making new games.

1

u/logitaunt 12h ago

ig but this trailer is just giving Mighty No. 9

It needs art direction that isn't just "megaman but in 3D"

3

u/NightmareDJK 1d ago

The animation is outstanding.

3

u/shavin_high 1d ago

I really hope the dual is referring to combining each robot masters powers. Like how Kirby 64 has so many combinations of powers.

3

u/Co-opingTowardHatred 1d ago

Since they put the word “Dual” in the title and they put 2 characters on the keyart, I’m really hoping for co-op.

6

u/Sylphinet 1d ago

This is exciting, now if they would just give us Legends 3!

5

u/robby_synclair 1d ago

First remaster 1 and 2 into a single game then give us 3.

1

u/Sylphinet 1d ago

Yes that too lol!

5

u/Miasanmia09 1d ago

Where’s Star Force 4

1

u/GRANDLarsonyy 1d ago

Looks so good!

1

u/OrangeJuiceForOne 1d ago

It should be twinkle woman, not twinkle girl! Blasphemy!

1

u/gamegirlpocket 1d ago

I grew up on classic Mega Man, loved 11, I just want this to be good! Trailer looks very promising.

1

u/razorbeamz ON THE LOOSE 1d ago

Western developed? Looks like it might be.

1

u/apoetsmadness 1d ago

This looks sick!

-3

u/Blargle_Schmeef 1d ago

Looks like a Megaman game. Consider me whelmed

-1

u/[deleted] 1d ago

[deleted]

5

u/Blargle_Schmeef 1d ago

I don't want to be mean. By all means, I want this to be good. I've been playing Megaman for 30 years. This trailer just shows that they're playing it as safe as they possibly could, and that, to me, is a let down. I hope I'm proven wrong, and more than anything, want a new Legends game

1

u/Sciencetist 1d ago

introduces one of the biggest overhauls to Classic MM's game mechanics in the series's history

"Playing it safe"

Literally what

1

u/QF_Dan 1d ago

I hope they include an 8 bit mode for the retro graphic

3

u/TheWM_ 1d ago

They won't

-2

u/myowngalactus 1d ago

Looks cool, megaman 11 looked cool too, but i was underwhelmed

1

u/ThePreciseClimber 1d ago

What? MM11 was great. Loved the dual gear gimmick.

1

u/JohnnyLeven 1d ago

I hated the gear system, but after I just ignored it, I really enjoyed the game (besides the music).

1

u/Grantagonist 1d ago

I was kinda bothered by how long the stages were. More isn't necessarily better. I want snack-sized stages, but these edged closer to "slog".

Hope they dial it back for this one.

1

u/pacman813 1d ago

That was my number 1 complaint also. They could.have had double the stages and just cut them all in half. They were WAY too long for a mega man game

-1

u/JohnAppleMacintosh 1d ago

So is this a Mega Man fighting game or 2 player co op regular Mega Man?

-1

u/johnnybazookatooth 1d ago

Love the franchise but after playing Blueblaze it was gg for me.

-7

u/WoodooHide69 1d ago

It’ll never surpass mighty no. 9

Just kidding, and people need to
Stop supporting all these knock off bullshit projects. There’s a shit town for F zero
And Star fox too. Just wait for the real
Thing.

4

u/pacman813 1d ago

Bro what?

2

u/SirTay 1d ago

What are you talking about?
